Asunci?n, Apr 12 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Esperanza Mart?nez, admitted today that Paragua suffers worst dengue epidemic in recent years.

So far the disease caused 23 deaths and more than seven thousand people infected, up from the records of 2007 when 17 deaths were reported.

Speaking to radio station 780 AM, the official said that the current situation worsened with the dual circulation of dengue type one and two, with prevalence of the latter, which caused an increase in severe cases.

Beside that also mentioned the large number of people who were sensitive for having had the disease in past epidemics.

Health Minister questioned the lack of coordination of work in the municipalities to confront evil and acknowledged the existence of "structural problems that can not be improved."

He said that the sanitation work should be addressed to advance the fight against dengue and indicated that the cleanup so desperately driven by municipalities, will not yield results in isolation.
