April 20, 2020 - 20:45
The Ministry of Health reported Monday that coronavirus cases remain at 208, while the number of deaths remains at eight. Due to the good results of the health strike, the Government is analyzing strategies to make quarantine more flexible.

The Health Minister, Julio Mazzoleni, reported on Monday through his Twitter account that the cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country remain at 208, while the death toll remains at eight. In addition, there are seven new recovered, bringing the figure to 53.

Forty days after the start of the quarantine decreed by the Government to prevent the massive spread of the coronavirus and the collapse of the health system, the authorities are considering making the measure more flexible, incorporating new items among the exceptions.

In this sense, they clarified that the idea is to do it gradually and in the safest possible way, with the aim of continuing to maintain the least possible impact on the health system.

However, they explained that it is not yet defined when the new exceptions would occur, while the quarantine extends until April 26.

The director of Health Surveillance, Guillermo Sequera, told Telefuturo that the country does not want to completely stop the coronavirus epidemic, since the low rate of contagion serves to generate group immunity.

Sequera said that it is necessary to be infected, but within a controlled index and considers that the quarantine in Paraguay is probably one of the best in the region.

The government decreed quarantine on March 10 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and also to strengthen the forgotten local health system.

Initially, classes, social activities and later commercial flights were suspended, and borders were also closed.
