COVID-19 in Panama: 5,166 cases and 146 deaths

At the close of this Thursday, April 23, 5,166 cases and 146 deaths due to COVID were confirmed. 19.
In home isolation there are 4,393 people, 1,042 are in hotels, 356 are hospitalized, of which 263 are in the ward and 93 are in intensive care.
271 recovered by laboratory have been confirmed, while 260 other citizens have clinically confirmed it.
Of those recovered, 33 were discharged from hotels, after completing their quarantine period.
On the other hand, this Thursday 174 new cases were detected.
In total 23,534 tests have been applied, of these 5,556 have been positive and 17,978 have shown negative results.
In addition, 2,651 swab tests have been carried out in the fast cars located in the Metropolitan region and in Panama West. Through this modality, 14% of those infected are detected, said the national director of Public Health, Nadja Porcell
To date, 109 cases of the virus have been found in Health workers. Of these confirmed diagnoses, 66 were from work contact, 40 community contagion and 3 are under study.
Meanwhile, 6 members of the Joint Task Force have died in the fight against COVID-19, 65 have recovered and another 791 agents who were under quarantine have been discharged.
We continue in quarantine
The Security Minister, Juan Pino, reiterated that the country continues in quarantine, for which the exits of the citizens must be extremely necessary. He warned that for this weekend the absolute quarantine measure will be applied again. "We look forward to collaboration like last week," he requested.
Adding to what Pino said, Porcell clarified that "in 15 days it is not that we are going to lift the quarantine, we have said that by having a low reproduction number, a more effective picture is presented for the health team to revisit the scenario and assess whether any measure can be lifted. "
Carlos Rognoni, vice minister of Agricultural Development, said that so far some 508,975 bags of food and 383,620 bonds of the Panama Solidarity Plan have been delivered due to the pandemic.
