KARACHI: At least eleven cases of patients suffered with dengue fever have been reported during the last two days at different hospitals of the city.

According to the Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell report, as many as 113 people have been affected with dengue viral infection during the year, so far only in Karachi...

MIRANSHAH: Hundreds of tribespeople, mostly women and children, are suffering from high fever caused by leishmaniasis and dengue and hospitalised in different health centres of North Waziristan Agency, the doctors said.

The doctors at the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miranshah, Tehsil Hospital Mir Ali and Tehsil Hospital in Dattakhel said that hundreds of people suffering from high fever were admitted to these health facilities during the past four days.

They said majority of the patients were suffering from malaria, dengue fever and some of the leishmaniasis. ?Frankly speaking, we don?t have enough drugs and specialist doctors for dengue fever and leishmaniasis but can?t refuse patients at the hospital,? a doctor at the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miranshah told The News...

Monday also saw the much-feared dengue virus claim its first victim; a 20-year-old woman named Aliya. She was admitted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on May 25 and breathed her last on Monday evening, hospital sources said.

Seven dengue patients were brought to different hospitals of the city, while as many as 183 people had been infected with the disease, this year.

KARACHI, July 2: A 22-year-old man died of dengue in the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Tuesday, taking the number of deaths from dengue fever this year to three, officials said.

The youth, Mohammad Zubair, had been admitted to hospital on June 27 in a critical condition.

Sources in the hospital said that he was a second-time victim of the deadly fever that made his case complicated from the outset of his treatment.

A total of 67 suspected cases of dengue have been reported at Holy Family Hospital (HFH) this year, with one person who tested positive having ?recently? died of the disease.

This was said by Dr Javed Hayat, head of the infectious diseases section at HFH, who added that the deceased was a man named Younas, 27, a resident of Karachi who got infected there...

Six more dengue cases have been detected in the city, reported the Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell on Wednesday.

According to the cell?s provincial focal person, Dr Shakeel Aamir Mullick, 497 dengue cases have been reported in the province so far this year, of which 484 were reported in the metropolis. Twelve new dengue cases were reported in the city on Tuesday...

KARACHI: A dengue patient passed away on Friday and eight fever cases were reported in the city hospitals, according to the Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell Spokesperson Dr Shakeel Aamir Mullick.
Muhammad Ameen, a 68-year-old resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal town, was admitted to a private hospital on July 17 and died during treatment on Friday. In the current year, dengue has claimed six lives so far.
