Ontario is reporting 1,332 people in hospital with COVID on Wednesday, with 182 in intensive care.

This is down by 34 for hospitalizations and a decrease of eight for ICUs since the previous day.

Last Wednesday, there were 1,074 hospitalizations with 168 in ICU. This is a 24 per cent and 8 per cent increase, respectively, to the figures this week.

According to latest breakdown for hospitalizations, 53 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 40 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 3,833 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,204,452.

The death toll in the province has risen to 12,583 as 13 more virus-related deaths were added. Wednesday’s report indicated 11 deaths occurred within the last month and one death occurred more than a month ago...

Ontario is reporting 1,392 people in hospital with COVID on Thursday, with 177 in intensive care.

This is up by 60 for hospitalizations but a decrease of five for ICUs since the previous day.

Last Thursday, there were 1,126 hospitalizations with 159 in ICU. This is a 24 per cent and 11 per cent increase, respectively, to the figures this week.

According to latest breakdown for hospitalizations, 55 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 35 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 4,589 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,209,041...

Ontario reported 1,130 people hospitalized with COVID-19 on Saturday, as COVID-19 levels in the province may have crested amid a sixth wave of the pandemic.

That's down from 1,427 hospitalizations documented on Good Friday and 1,392 hospitalizations reported on Thursday.

However, the Ministry of Health notes that upwards of 10 per cent of hospitals did not provide data and, as such, "We anticipate the number… may increase when reporting compliance increases."

Of those hospitalized currently, 185 require intensive care and 80 are on ventilators in order to keep breathing...

Ontario is reporting 1,301 people in hospital with COVID on Monday, with 202 in intensive care units. On Easter Sunday, there were 1,290 people reported to be in hospital with COVID, with 197 in ICUs.

Due to the holiday weekend, figures were not available on Easter Sunday so two sets of data were released on Monday for both days.

Last Monday, there were 1,090 hospitalizations with 184 in ICU. This is a 19 per cent and 9.7 per cent increase, respectively, to the figures this week.

According to latest data for hospitalizations from the weekend, 52 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 38 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 2,219 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday and 2,450 on Sunday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,222,243.

The death toll in the province has risen to 12,632 as two more virus-related deaths were added on Monday. No new deaths were reported Sunday...

Hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 in Ontario have increased to 1,486 as the number of patients in the ICU with the virus grows to 206.

Tuesday’s report marks the highest number of patients in hospital with COVID-19 since February 15 when 1,550 were receiving care.

Of the patients currently in hospital, 954 are fully vaccinated, 193 are unvaccinated, and 65 are partially vaccinated. No other vaccination information was released by the government.

COVID hospitalizations surpass 1,600 in Ontario; 28 more deaths

Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 in Ontario has surpassed the 1,600 threshold for the first time since mid-February as the province reports an additional 28 deaths related to the disease.

According to provincial data, there are at least 1,662 people in Ontario hospitals with the novel coronavirus as of Wednesday. This includes at least 203 in intensive care.

Of those hospitalized, about 45 per cent are being treated specifically for COVID-19 while the remaining patients tested positive after being admitted for other ailments.

That percentage is much larger in the ICU, with about 59 per cent of patients being treated for the novel coronavirus.

The province is also logging an additional 28 deaths related to COVID-19. Officials say these deaths occurred in the last month, bringing Ontario’s cumulative pandemic death tally to 12,661.

Five of the deaths reported Wednesday were residents of long-term care, the province said...

This is down by 36 for hospitalizations but an increase of four for ICUs since the previous day.

Ontario is reporting 1,684 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Saturday, with 212 in intensive care.

According to data released by the provincial government, that is up by 93 hospitalizations from the previous day, although the number of people in intensive care dropped slightly. On Friday, Ontario recorded 1,591 hospitalizations and 214 people in ICU.

The figures are also a jump from last Saturday when Ontario reported 1,130 people in hospital with COVID and 185 in an Ontario intensive care unit.

In an interview with Global News on Friday, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Kieran Moore, admitted the province faced a “difficult” week. He said the “absolute peak” of community spread had passed but that hospitalizations, a lagging data point, could continue to grow next week.

“We anticipate a potential peak next week, sadly, of 240 Ontarians being in our intensive care unit,” Moore said. “A peak of around 2,000 Ontarians being in our hospital.”...

Ontario reported six new COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, as the number of patients in ICU due to coronavirus held steady from 24 hours earlier.

The Ministry of Health says three of Sunday’s deaths occurred in the past 30 days and three others occurred prior to that period.

Deaths due to COVID-19 have increased by 102 in the past week and 376 in the past 30 days.

There have been 12,734 deaths due to COVID-19 since March 2020.

The Ministry of Health says 212 people were in intensive care due to or with COVID-19 on Sunday, unchanged from one day earlier.

ICU occupancy due to COVID-19 has increased by 7.6 per cent in the past week and 28.4 per cent in the past 30 days.

Total overall hospital occupancy data was not available on Sunday...

Ontario is reporting 1,730 people in hospital with COVID-19. There are 219 people in intensive care with or due to the virus.

That marks an increase of 275 hospitalizations and no change in the number of people in intensive care compared to Monday’s report. However, not all hospitals reported updated figures in Monday’s report due to the weekend.

Last Tuesday, there were 1,486 people reported to be in hospital with COVID-19, with 206 in intensive care.

According to the latest provincial data, around 54.5 per cent of people in hospital with COVID were admitted for another reason but tested positive for the virus, while about 45.5 per cent were admitted because of COVID.

Of those in intensive care, 35 per cent were admitted for other reasons, while 65 per cent were admitted because of the virus.

Last Tuesday, around 55.7 per cent of those in hospital with COVID were admitted for other reasons, while in intensive care units that figure was about 36.7 per cent.

Fourteen new COVID-19-related deaths were also reported Tuesday, 13 of which occurred within the past month. One death was added due to data cleaning....
