Ohio measles outbreak hits 73 cases as US totals pile up

A measles outbreak in Ohio has reached 73 cases?the largest state outbreak since 1996?and has helped spur US cases to some of their highest levels in recent years, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Ohio outbreak began in March and involves patients from 1 to 52 years old, with about even numbers male and female, according to an ODH update today. Five patients have required hospitalization. Forty-five of the cases have been in Knox County, while Ashland County has recorded the second-highest total, at 14...

Coshocton measles cases stay at four, but more suspected

COSHOCTON ? The Coshocton County Health Department is investigating some newly reported suspected measles cases but have only confirmed four cases previously announced at this time.

Three are in a family in Crawford Township and the other is a woman unrelated but also living in Crawford Township. All are Amish and have not been vaccinated...

PARMA, Ohio ? Test results have revealed that no one was exposed to measles at two Parma schools recently, according to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.

The Board of Health said test results twice came back negative, meaning there is no cause for concern that anyone at Parma Senior High School or Thoreau Park Elementary School was exposed to the disease...

Ohio measles cases increase 25 percent in one day

As of May 20, Ohio has seen 111 measles cases in 2014. The Ohio Department of Health posted that case count online this afternoon and it is 25 percent higher than yesterday's total of 89. Six patients have required hospitalization.

WMFD is reporting that Richland County, OH, and the city of Mansfield, have as many as 16 additional suspected cases of measles...

COSHOCTON ? Two new measles cases have been confirmed in Coshocton County.

The county now has six confirmed cases, part of the largest reported outbreak of the disease in Ohio since 1996.

Coshocton County Health Department Health Commissioner Robert Brems Jr. said the new cases are adult men in White Eyes Township. Neither were vaccinated prior to the outbreak...
