Health officials have determined when the exposure took place where.

A person who was confirmed to have measles visited a popular shopping center recently.

GOSHEN, NY ? The Orange County Department of Health said a person who was confirmed to have measles visited Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley recently. The visit occurred Sunday, March 31, a spokesman for the county said.

Health officials said potential exposure to measles may have happened to people who were in the Nike Factory or Sayki Men's Fashion stores between the hours of 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Anyone who visited the property outside of this timeframe is not at risk from this particular exposure, health officials said.

The person with measles was from New York City, but a county spokesman said the health department didn't have information as to which borough was the place of residence.

There have been 17 measles cases in Orange County, including seven from last fall and 10 so far this year, a county spokesman said...

People who demonstrate they are immune from measles have a medical condition that prevents them from receiving the vaccine will not need to get vaccinated.
If the Health Department identifies a person with measles or an unvaccinated child exposed to measles in one of the above ZIP codes, that individual or their parent or guardian could be fined $1,000.

Two pregnant women have been sickened with measles and twelve people who have violated the city?s mandatory vaccination rule face $1,000 fines, as the city?s measles outbreak continues, health officials said Wednesday.

The total number of measles cases has now climbed to 390 dating back to October, with an additional 31 cases in the last week. Overall, 29 people have been hospitalized, six of whom needed intensive care. No deaths have been associated with the outbreak so far.

Contracting measles while pregnant can be extremely dangerous for the fetus and can result in birth defects including deafness or blindness, intellectual disabilities, or heart problems, according to the Centers for Disease Control...

The city's Health Department closed two more schools in Brooklyn after they failed to comply with the emergency order following a measles outbreak in the borough, officials said on Monday.

The two schools ? Tiferes Bnos on Marcy Avenue and Talmud Torah D?Nitra, a preschool on Bedford Avenue ? didn't comply with the order, which requires yeshivas and child care programs in certain ZIP codes to turn away unvaccinated children and provide the Health Department with access to medical and attendance records. The city has issued a total of 57 summonses for not complying with the emergency order...

Measles outbreak spreads to NYC public school students
More than 80% of the city's 466 cases are located in five Williamsburg zip codes.

The city's Health Department once again encouraged New Yorkers to get the measles vaccine Tuesday after it revealed the ongoing outbreak has grown to 466 cases, including the infection of two unvaccinated public school students.

Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot said about 81% of the people who have been diagnosed are located in the five Williamsburg ZIP codes targeted by last month's emergency health order,which mandated vaccinations in those areas.

[h=2]Recent Outbreak in Brooklyn and Queens[/h] As of May 20, 2019, there have been 523 confirmed cases of measles in Brooklyn and Queens since September. Most of these cases have involved members of the Orthodox Jewish community.
[h=3]Vaccination Requirement in Brooklyn[/h] On April 9, the Health Commissioner ordered every adult and child who lives, works or resides in the following ZIP codes and has not received the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine to be vaccinated:
  • 11205
  • 11206
  • 11211
  • 11249
On April 17, the Board of Health voted unanimously to adopt a resolution supporting the Commissioner's order and the vaccination requirement.
As of May 20, 24,815 doses of the MMR vaccine have been administered to people who are under 19 years old in Williamsburg and Borough Park since October.
People who demonstrate they are immune from measles or have a medical condition that prevents them from receiving the vaccine will not need to get vaccinated.
If the Health Department identifies a person with measles or an unvaccinated child exposed to measles in one of the above ZIP codes, that individual or their parent or guardian could be fined $1,000.
