A 58-year-old man, confirmed by the Government as the tenth case of covid-19 in Nicaragua, just three days ago, died this Thursday morning of the pandemic, being the third person killed by covid-19 in Nicaragua.
The secretary of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Carlos S?enz, said in an exclusive press conference for official media, that the Nicaraguan was a diabetic and hypertensive patient, who "presented this morning with an acute and unexpected complication, which, unfortunately, led to his death".
Although some national media have said that this tenth case was a doctor from the Bertha Calder?n Hospital, in Managua, unofficial sources assured CONFIDENCIAL that it is actually a worker from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport, who was transferred to the Japan Hospital -Nicaragua, from Granada, on Sunday, April 19, although the Minsa confirmed the case until the following day.
"We have been since March 11, then, three brothers died from previous health complications, added to the covid-19," said the official, in keeping with the official attempt to try to minimize the pandemic. In addition, it is striking that he said March 11, despite the fact that the first contagion was confirmed on the 18th of that month and the first death on the 26th. This, however, is not the first time that Minsa has erred in the data, They are also widely questioned for their hermetic handling and lack of transparency.
They announce ninth case and maintain a whimsical count
The authorities of the Ministry of Health also confirmed on the morning of this Thursday, April 23, the eleventh case: a 68-year-old man, "contact with an imported case", which they affirm "is delicate and stable."
The Minsa continued its “fancy” count, also criticized by health experts and members of civil society, since the Government subtracts positive cases daily without providing explanations about the handling of the figures. The contradiction has even occurred with the second death confirmed by the Government, which corresponded to a 64-year-old man who had already been removed from the list of active cases.
Similar occurs with the "suspicious cases", of which the Government hardly of a number that adds and subtracts without specifying its "method".
“Yesterday, we had 12 people in responsible and careful monitoring. Of these, 3 people have complied with the regulatory period, who are now under house protection. There are, therefore, 9 people left, to which 6 more are added today, for a total, this morning, of 15 people in care and responsible and permanent monitoring, "said S?enz.
The Government has also not explained what the terms "responsible and careful follow-up" mean, although it follows that they are cases hospitalized in different centers, since the other term of "going to housekeeping" would indicate that they are discharged persons.
