Nicaragua adds four positive cases of covid-19 and 14 suspects
People infected with the virus entered the country through the Managua International Airport and their health status is unknown.

A 70-year-old man and 52-year-old woman have become the new covid-19 coronavirus cases in Nicaragua, where officially there are four confirmed positive cases. Both people came to the country from the United States with symptoms of the disease, so they had a laboratory test that confirmed the diagnosis, said the wife of Daniel Ortega and vice president Rosario Murillo this afternoon.
According to the official, the patients "remain without symptoms", but they are under "rigorous follow-up, this preventive monitoring, and we hope to be able to report positively in the next two days," she emphasized.
The new cases of coronavirus in Nicaragua were known hours after the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) apologized to the Government for what it claims was "a typing error", in which they reported six positive cases of coronavirus in this country and not two, as the government maintained until then.
This Thursday one of the first patients who was diagnosed with coronavirus also died, just six days after the government announced his case through official media. The 47-year-old Nicaraguan had pre-existing chronic diseases that complicated his condition, according to the authorities of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Wednesday morning.
"We accompany and care for him with love and care at all times, fighting with him for his life," said Murillo. He then assured that the family was immediately informed when the death occurred, who decided to "cremate and conserve ashes, for a Christian burial, once they complete their own stage of preventive and protective quarantine," he added.

Nicaragua accumulates so far one death from coronavirus, four confirmed cases (including the first deceased) and 14 people suspected of having contracted the virus.
The Ministry of Health has secretly treated the data on the number of covid-19 tests carried out at the Conchita Palacios National Complex, where the tests have been centralized. Although the authorities gave a reference number of 200 tests carried out a week ago, doctors from various hospitals have reported that they have referred dozens of suspected cases. Government continues without decreeing quarantine
The Government of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo continues without decreeing a quarantine or establishing internationally adopted measures to prevent contagion, such as physical distancing.
Despite the demand for information on the hospitals and the resources available in the Minsa to face the global pandemic, the authorities of the Government and the Ministry of Health limit themselves to indicating that there are 19 "sentinel" hospitals in the country and that there would be "Enough" mechanical fans in hospitals without giving an exact figure.
A CONFIDENCIAL report revealed that despite the coronavirus outbreak, it is vital to know the number of respirators available, because at least 20% of those infected in critical condition would require artificial respiration, the official data is not available.
Independently, this media outlet confirmed with almost a dozen doctors (including pulmonologists from public and private hospitals) that the number of available and functional ventilators in Nicaragua does not exceed 160, a figure that would not be able to cope if the infections were lack of prevention increases, and collapses the established capacity of hospitals.
