New York City added a new coronavirus case Friday, a Manhattan man tied to the cluster in Westchester County, bringing the state's total to 23, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on "The Brian Lehrer Show."

The newest patient, who is in his 50s, is presenting mild symptoms, de Blasio said. Disease detectives are now working to learn more about his family and any close contacts he may have had while contagious.

On Friday, 23 people in New York were confirmed to have coronavirus, just five days after the first local case was reported. Erica Byfield reports.

New York added 11 new coronavirus cases Friday, including another Manhattan case and more in Westchester County, bringing the state's total to 33, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio announced.

Each of the 11 new cases is connected to the Westchester cluster that started with the midtown Manhattan lawyer, the first case of community spread. The newest Manhattan patient, who is in his 50s, is presenting mild symptoms, de Blasio said. Disease detectives are working to learn more about his family and any close contacts he may have had while contagious...

White Plains doctor and family test positive for COVID-19

A physician with the Maple Medical Group in White Plains and his wife and four children have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Business Journal has learned.

The physician practices with the Maple Medical Group in White Plains.

It was not immediately clear whether these cases were included in the 18 cases that Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said existed in Westchester or whether these were new cases.

Dr. Richard B. Frimer, speaking for the Maple Medical Group that has offices at 143 and 170 Maple Avenue and 30 Davis Ave., said that the practice was notifying its patients and has closed its 30 Davis Ave. and 143 Maple Ave. locations location for sanitizing.

Frimer said the physician had contact with the 50-year-old lawyer from New Rochelle, who was hospitalized several days ago in New York City with the virus. Frimer said the direct contact was on Feb. 22...
 
The two attendees from NY that attended AIPAC will probably be big news, not sure how they will contact all, or if they do, will get them all to self-isolate. Stay safe everybody.

The individuals were described as a 57-year-old pharmacist and a 52-year-old woman who came into contact with an infected person from Pennsylvania while attended a conference in Miami.

The cases are the first announced for Saratoga County.

Eleven cases have been confirmed in New York City, 57 in Westchester County, two in Rockland County, four in Nassau County.

Cuomo said he will instruct nursing homes and senior-care facilities in the New Rochelle area to restrict outside visitors...

...Of the 76 cases total, ten of those patients are currently hospitalized, Cuomo said.

Regarding the 7 new cases reported in New York City, two recently arrived on a cruise ship. The other five are believed to have contracted the virus through community spread.

One of the New York City patients is hospitalized in Far Rockaway, Queens, Cuomo said....

Two more Upper West Siders tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday.

The wife of a 51-year-old man who had been diagnosed with the virus on Friday and their 11-year-old daughter have tested positive for the coronavirus, city officials said on Saturday. All three (the man, woman and child) are now under mandatory quarantine.

The woman and child are both “mildly symptomatic,” the mayor’s update said. Most people who get this virus have suffered relatively mild symptoms, though the disease can be much more serious for others. The people who become sickest tend to be older or have preexisting conditions.

City officials have not revealed what building the family lives in, nor have they disclosed the school that the child attends. Asked whether the child’s school had been thoroughly cleaned, City Councilmember Mark Levine wrote to us that he believes so...

NEW YORK — There are three new confirmed cases of coronavirus in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio told PIX11 Monday morning.

According to the mayor's office, two of the new COVID-19 cases are in Brooklyn and one is in Queens.

The new cases bring the city's total cases to 15 and the state's total cases to 108...
