President Hosni Mubarak at a meeting held Tuesday at the Presidency of the Republic with the ministerial group in charge of monitoring the situation from a disease of swine influenza to postpone the educational process, if the rapid spread of the disease, and asked to take maximum measures to prevent it.
The meeting brought together both the ministers of defense, interior, health, environment, education, higher education, tourism, and social solidarity, local development, in addition to Dr. Ahmed Nazif, the Prime Minister, Dr. Zakaria Azmi, Chief of Office of the President of the Republic.
The Minister of Health Dr. Hatem el-Gabali after the meeting that the ministry has set regulations and standards which determine the severity of the disease and spread, and pointed out that these criteria relate to the rapid spread of the disease and the number of cases of pneumonia resulting from this disease and the number and percentage of deaths, stressing that the situation in Egypt is still in the security framework but it can not predict what will happen tomorrow or within ten days.
He noted that the Ministerial Monitoring Committee, offered to President position in full for both the swine flu epidemic in the world as a whole or for Egypt and the precautionary measures taken to cope with this disease, particularly with regard to the educational process in schools and universities, especially since this disease affects the students and young people more than any.
On the contrary, another category of seasonal influenza, which mainly affect older people.
The mountain to the Ministers of Education Dr. Yousry El-Gamal and Higher Education Dr. Hany Helal presented to President Mubarak during the meeting, alternative plans in case of closure of schools and universities so as not to hamper the educational process and through the use of educational television channels, as well as the measures taken in universities and schools to protect students
