Week 8:
1 new pediatric death (influenza B); total 3 One influenza-associated pediatric mortality associated with influenza B from the C Region was reported to MDCH during the past week. Three influenza-associated pediatric mortalities (1SE, 2C), one associated with influenza A and two with influenza B, have been reported to MDCH for the 2010-2011 influenza season.
ILI: 3.4%
During February 20-26, 21 influenza 2009 A/H1N1, eight influenza A/H3, and four influenza B isolates were reported by MDCH Bureau of Laboratories.
6 new hospitalizations: Based on these data, the estimated influenza
hospitalization incidence rate in the catchment area, from October 1-February 26, is 27 per 100,000 for children and 5 per 100,000 for adults.
One new outbreak due to influenza A from the SW Region was reported during the past week. Ten total outbreaks have been reported to MDCH for the 2010-2011 season:
Influenza A/H3 confirmed: 4 (2SE, 1SW, 1N)
Influenza A/H1N1 2009 confirmed: 2 (2SW)
Influenza A, subtyping pending 1 (SW)
No testing performed or testing negative: 3 (1SE, 2N)
