MDSS data for the week ending October 9th indicated that aggregate influenza case reports and individual influenza reports remained similar to the previous week?s levels. Aggregate influenza cases and individual influenza cases are lower than levels seen during the same reporting period in 2009.
Emergency department visits from constitutional and respiratory complaints remained steady compared to the previous week?s levels.
During the week ending October 9, 2010, the proportion of visits due to influenza-like illness (ILI) remained at low levels at 0.6% overall.
Ten sentinel laboratories reported for the week ending October 9, 2010. All labs (SE, SW, C, N) reported no influenza A or B positive test results. Testing volume is slowly increasing at most labs. One SE lab reported several positive RSV test results.
