CIUDAD JUAREZ. The Ministry of Health of Chihuahua confirmed four deaths from H1N1 influenza in the state.

The dependence explained that one of the victims was Isidrio Gutiérrez Palma, Road Agent Juarez, who was a patrol officer's partner Aaron Rodolfo Caballero, who died Tuesday from the same cause.

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico ? Local Mexican health authorities confirmed the reappearance of the AH1N1 flu virus that flared into an epidemic two years ago and which has now left two dead and another infected in Ciudad Juarez on the United States border.

Authorities in Mexico's Chihuahua state along the US border have announced preventive health measures to stanch a return of a swine flu epidemic after four people recently died of the virus.

"School checks will be implemented following a renewed outbreak of H1N1 human influenza, as a means of protecting all students from possible infection," said Javier Gonzalez, Chihuahua's deputy secretary of education, culture and sport.

Gonzalez said four people had died in the state since last week, when authorities discovered a fresh outbreak of the virus, and state health officials quickly launched a vaccination campaign and outreach programs to inform the population about prevention measures.

Good eyes - One of the worst civilian contaminatin events happened there back in 1983 [ http://www.window.state.tx.us/border/ch09/cobalto.html ]. I dont know what that reference in the article was about.

I think I just am on radiation alert right now. That's a very frightening story about the 1983 event. Maybe that is why the worry is there about cobalt-60.

It seems like they would have identified a problem like that by now. Now in post #90:

It still looks like there is some confusion about the cause of 3 of the deaths. I did read that there were cases of 1918 flu where pockets of air formed under the skin and caused popping noises when patients were turned over - like bubble wrap from the sound of it. Also there was skin peeling reported, though the one report I saw says the skin was blackened prior to peeling.

So possibly there could be strange skin symptoms, and like Alert pointed out, maybe sampling missed the infection.
