WINNIPEG -- Manitoba's test-positivity rate has dipped below three per cent for the first time since October, as public health identifies 39 new cases of COVID-19.

While there were no deaths reported on Friday, the province reported a five-day test positivity rate of 2.9 per cent along with the 39 cases.

This is Manitoba's lowest reported test positivity rate since October 7, 2020, when Manitoba saw a five-day test positivity rate of 2.4 per cent.

Winnipeg reported 15 new cases, with a test positivity rate of 2.7 per cent as of Friday.

The other cases reported include:

10 new cases in the Interlake–Eastern health region;
two new cases in the Northern health region;
three new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region; and
nine new cases in the Southern Health region.

These cases bring Manitoba's total number of cases to 57,065, including 958 active cases and 54,943 recoveries. Two cases were removed from the total due to a data correction.

The number of deaths of people with COVID-19 remains at 1,164.

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations and intensive care admissions dropped as of Friday, with a total of 119 people with COVID-19 in hospital.

Of the patients, 26 are in intensive care including nine who have active cases and 17 who are no longer infectious but still require critical care.

Shared Health told CTV News another COVID-19 patient that had been receiving care in Ontario has been returned to Manitoba. Currently only one COVID-19 patient is receiving out-of-province care in Ontario...

Manitoba adds 62 COVID-19 cases Saturday, death toll unchanged

COVID-19 numbers in Manitoba remained relatively low Saturday, with 62 new cases of the virus being reported.

According to the province’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are 961 active virus cases, while the death toll remains unchanged from Friday at 1,164.

Of the new cases, 33 are in Winnipeg, 13 are in Interlake-Eastern, 12 are in Southern Health-Santé Sud, three are in the north, and one is in Prairie Mountain Health.

The provincial five-day test positivity rate ticked up slightly to 3.2 per cent compared to 2.9 per cent a day earlier...

here are 44 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba on Sunday and one more person has died from the illness, the province's online dashboard says.

The update brings Manitoba's number of deaths linked to the illness to 1,165, the dashboard says.

Manitoba is no longer putting out COVID-19 news releases on Saturdays and Sundays, which means COVID-19 updates on those days now come from the province's online data portal, which contains fewer details.

For example, that dashboard does not provide details on deaths like the person's age or what health region they lived in.

Those and other details are expected in the province's next COVID-19 news release on Monday.

There are now 119 Manitobans hospitalized after getting COVID-19, the dashboard says, up by two since Saturday. Of those patients, 27 are in intensive care, down by one...

Manitoba sees 37 COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

Manitoba reported 37 more cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths as of Monday.

The provincial test positivity rate stands at 3.6 per cent for the second day in a row, while the rate in Winnipeg is 3.1 per cent.

The number of people in hospital is down slightly to 117, with 27 of those patients in intensive care. Overall as of early Monday, there were 99 ICU patients in Manitoba hospitals, with COVID-19 and other conditions, a Shared Health spokespeson said.

This is the first time Manitoba's ICU totals have dipped below 100 since May 2, though the spokesperson noted that overall totals remain "well above" the critical care capacity pre-pandemic, which was 72 patients.

Over the course of the third wave when the provincial health-care system was pushed beyond its limits, Manitoba transported 57 COVID-19 ICU patients to out-of-province hospitals. As of Friday, the last of those patients had returned to the province...

36 new COVID-19 cases, no deaths reported in Manitoba

Manitoba reported 36 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths on Tuesday.

Of the latest cases, 13 are in the Winnipeg health region and 11 in the Southern Health region.

The remainder are single case numbers for the Interlake–Eastern health region (five), Northern health region (four), and Prairie Mountain Health region (three).

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 3.6 per cent provincially,the same as it was on Monday. The rate in Winnipeg has once again climbed slightly to 3.2 per cent. It was 2.7 per cent last Friday and then 3.1 on Monday.

There are 108 Manitobans in hospital with COVID-19, a drop from 117. Of those, 29 are in intensive care, two more than on Monday. ..

Manitoba is reporting 44 new cases of COVID-19 as well as the death of a man in his 30s linked to the more contagious delta variant on Wednesday, a provincial news release says.

The man from the Winnipeg health region is the third Manitoban to die of COVID-19 after contracting the delta, or B.1617.2, variant. The first was reported last month.

To date, 1,166 Manitobans have died of COVID-19.

Of the latest COVID-19 cases, 16 are in the Winnipeg health region, 12 are in the Interlake-Eastern health region and 11 are in the Southern Health region.

The remainder are single-digit case numbers for the Northern Health Region (three) and the Prairie Mountain Health region (two).

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is down slightly to 3.5 per cent provincially, from 3.6 per cent on Tuesday. The rate in Winnipeg dropped to 2.9 per cent, down from 3.2 per cent the day before.

Manitoba announced 41 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths from the illness on Friday.

The deaths are from three different health regions in the province, and all three are linked to a coronavirus variant of concern, the province said in a new release.

They include a woman in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern, and another woman in her 60s, from the Prairie Mountain Health region, also linked to B.1.1.7.

The other death is a man in his 80s from the Southern Health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern.

The total number of Manitobans who have died of COVID-19 since the pandemic began is now 1,170, including 174 identified as being linked to a coronavirus variant.

Of the latest COVID-19 cases, nearly half are in the Interlake–Eastern health region, where 19 have been reported.

For the first time in months, the lion's share of cases are not in the Winnipeg health region, which reported 13.

The remainder include four new cases in the Southern Health region, three in the Prairie Mountain Health region and two in the Northern Health Region, which had also led the province in cases at one point earlier this year...

There are 30 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba and one more person has died from the illness, the province's online coronavirus dashboard says.

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is now 3.2 per cent, the dashboard says, down slightly from 3.3 on Saturday.

The province is no longer issuing COVID-19 news releases on weekends, which means updates on Saturdays and Sundays come from Manitoba's online dashboards.

Those data portals offer less information than what's typically included in a news release. For example, they do not provide any information on the age or health region of people who died from the illness.

Those and other details are expected to be revealed in the province's next news release on Monday.

Daily COVID-19 case numbers continue to drop in Manitoba as public health officials announced 11 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Monday.

That's the lowest daily case count for the province since Sept. 17, when Manitoba also had 11 new cases.

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is three per cent, while in Winnipeg it is 1.8 per cent, after 1,240 tests were completed Monday,

COVID-19: 43 new cases reported in Saskatchewan, 0 new cases in Regina

The Saskatchewan government announced 43 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, which brings the total number of provincial infections to 49,727 of which 7,961 cases are variants of concern.

One more death was reported by the province.

For new COVID-19 cases, 12 are in the far northwest, one is in the far north central, 20 are in the far northeast, one is in the north-central, five are in Saskatoon, one is in the south central and one is in the south west. Zero cases were reported in Regina.

Manitoba reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 and and no new deaths from the illness on Tuesday.

The province's five-day test positivity rate is 2.8 per cent, down from three per cent on Monday, the province said in a news release. That's the lowest the provincial rate has been since Oct. 7 of last year, when it was 2.4 per cent.

In Winnipeg, the positivity rate is 1.4 per cent, down from 1.8 per cent on Monday. That's also the lowest number since last October, when the province started including the Winnipeg test positivity rate in its daily updates.

There are currently 498 active cases of the illness in Manitoba.

Of the 23 new cases, nine are in the Winnipeg health region, six are in the Southern Health region, four are in the Interlake-Eastern health region, two are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, and two are in the Northern Health Region.

There are currently 107 Manitobans in hospital due to COVID-19, down from 110 on Monday. The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care as of Tuesday is 27, up by one...

Manitoba is reporting 26 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday and three more deaths from the illness, a provincial news release says.

Of these new cases, most are in the Interlake-Eastern health region, which reported 15 new cases. There are also six new cases in the Winnipeg health region, three in the Southern Health region and two in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

No new cases were reported in the Northern Health Region.

There are now 497 active cases in the province and 55,830 people have recovered from COVID-19, the province's news release said.

Manitoba is reporting 47 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths from the illness, a Thursday provincial news release says.

The Interlake-Eastern health region reported the highest number of new cases Thursday, with 21. There are also 13 new cases in the Winnipeg health region, six in each of the Southern and Northern health regions, and one in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

There are now 526 active cases in the province and 55,845 people have recovered from COVID-19, the province's news release said.

The two latest deaths from COVID-19 — a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 70s, both from the Winnipeg health region — were both connected with the more contagious alpha, or B.1.1.7, coronavirus variant.

The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the province is now 1,177.

Manitoba has 46 new COVID-19 cases and one more person has died from the illness, health officials announced Friday.

The person who died was a woman in her 60s in the Southern Health region, the province said in a news release.

Manitoba's five-day test-positivity rate is 2.3 per cent, up from 2.1 on Thursday. The rate in Winnipeg also rose to 1.4 per cent from 1.1 per cent on Thursday.

The Northern Health Region had 17 new cases, the highest among Manitoba's health regions. The Winnipeg and Interlake-Eastern health regions each had 12 new cases. There were four new cases in the Southern Health region and one in Prairie Mountain Health.

There are currently 542 active cases in the province.

COVID-19: Manitoba adjusts update schedule, information no longer released on weekends

For at least the month of August, health officials in Manitoba will no longer be providing COVID-19 information on weekends, and are reducing the frequency of updates on weekdays.

That said, the government’s news release leaves room for that to change “as real-time information about cases and vaccination rates emerges,” or should a fourth wave of the virus develop later in the fall.

Effective Saturday, July 31, media bulletins will now be released on Mondays and Thursdays, and the weekly update on health order enforcement will be included on Thursdays...

There were 101 new cases of COVID-19 and three more deaths reported in Manitoba over the long weekend, a provincial news release says.

Of the new cases, 27 were reported on Saturday, 34 cases on Sunday, 18 cases on Monday and 22 cases on Tuesday.

Nearly half of the 101 cases — 49 — are in the Winnipeg health region. There are 24 in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 18 in the Southern Health region, seven in the Northern Health Region and three in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

The deaths of two men in their 60s from the Winnipeg health region were reported over the weekend — one linked to the alpha or B.1.1.7 variant of concern, and the other to an unspecified variant. A man in his 80s from the Southern Health region also died after testing positive for an unspecified variant.

Manitoba has 17 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no more people have died, the province's online dashboard says Wednesday.

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is 2.3 per cent, down from 2.6 per cent on Tuesday.

A total of 94 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 18 in intensive care units. That's a slight drop from Tuesday, when 95 people were in hospital, including 19 in intensive care.

There are currently 515 cases listed as active in Manitoba.

On Tuesday, labs completed 1,083 COVID-19 tests.

Testing confirmed seven cases of more contagious variants of the virus that causes COVID-19. However, data corrections eliminated two variant cases, which means the total number of cases linked to variants increased by five, to 16,720.

There are five cases linked to the alpha variant, also called B.1.1.7., and two marked as unspecified...

Manitoba reported 37 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Thursday as it also announced the province is moving to a lower level in the pandemic response system.

The deaths are a man in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern, and a woman in her 60s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern.

Despite the deaths, the province says most markers suggest the spread of COVID-19 in Manitoba has slowed to a point where it is safe to move from the restricted (orange) level on the pandemic response system to the caution (yellow) level, effective Saturday.

The province spent seven months in the red (critical) level before it moved to the orange level in late June...
