Sarawak records four new suspected Covid-19 cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new patients under investigation (PUI) cases of the Covid-19 (novel coronavirus) on Thursday (Feb 13), the state disaster management committee said.

It said two cases were reported in Miri Hospital, while the other two were in Sibu Hospital and the Sarawak General Hospital here respectively.

This brings the cumulative total of PUI cases in Sarawak to 80 since Jan 10.

The majority are Malaysians (59 cases), 18 Chinese nationals, one Thai, one Indonesian and one Canadian.

Of the total, 64 tested negative and 16 are waiting for their results...

KUALA LUMPUR: A viral 45-second video clip claiming the Covid-19 infection has reached the Selayang Hospital is not true.

The Health Ministry through a post on its official Facebook page had denied claims made by the person filming the video that the coronavirus had allegedly spread to the hospital.

In the video, several people were seen standing outside the hospital's mortuary and next to the mortuary there were few makeshift tents...

PUTRAJAYA: Four COVID-19 patients have fully recovered, bringing the number of people having been successfully treated in Malaysia to seven.

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the four were discharged from hospital on Friday (Feb 14).

She added that they were the first, second, third and fifth cases among the 19 who have been tested positive since the infections were first reported on Jan 25...

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said the two cases involved Chinese nationals - one a businessman aged 27 and the other a woman aged 32.

The man from Guangzhou was found to be symptomatic when he was screened at the entry point at Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah on Friday...

KUALA LUMPUR: Three more Covid-19 (novel coronavirus) cases have been identified in Malaysia, bringing the total number to 22.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said two cases involved Chinese nationals – a 27-year-old businessman and a 32-year-old woman who is married to a Malaysian, while the third involved an 83-year-old American female.

The man was found to have fever at the Bukit Kayu Hitam border checkpoint on Thursday and was referred to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar the same day.

He had arrived in Malaysia on Feb 1 for business and on Feb 12 he went to Thailand and returned to Malaysia the following day...

PETALING JAYA: The government will not allow more passengers of the Westerdam cruise ship from stepping into Malaysia.

This comes after an 83-year-old American woman, a passenger onboard, flew into Malaysia and tested positive for Covid-19. She and her husband (who tested negative), are being treated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital...

...However, it was said that 137 of the 145 passengers who arrived here on MH8763, have boarded flights to other destinations. Six others are still awaiting connecting flights.

“These six will be tested for Covid-19. If they test negative, they will be allowed to continue with their journey. If found positive, they will be warded at the hospital and monitored,“ she said...

It was also the fifth consecutive day of zero new cases, since an American octogenarian aboard cruise liner MS Westerdam tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 15.

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry today reported that a Japanese woman and an Italian man living in Malaysia have tested positive for Covid-19.

These bring the total number of cases to 25.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 41-year-old Japanese woman who works in Malaysia had travelled to Japan in January and Indonesia early this month.

“She is now being treated in an isolation ward in Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” he said in a statement today.

The 54-year-old Italian man, meanwhile, had travelled for work to Italy earlier this month. He has been admitted to an isolation ward in Hospital Sungai Buloh for treatment and observation...

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed four new Covid-19 coronavirus cases in Malaysia today, bringing the tally of infections to 29.

In a statement, its director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that all the new cases are Malaysians between the ages of 20 and 52.

PETALING JAYA: All seven new Covid-19 cases reported were found to have been in close contact with the country’s 26th patient – an Uda Holdings Bhd board member, says the Health Ministry.

This brings the total number of cases to 36 yesterday.

Among the seven included a paramedic who provided aid to him, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a Facebook post.

“Case 34 is a local man, aged 40. The patient is a paramedic and had provided treatment to the 26th case. He has no history of overseas travel. He was confirmed positive on March 3 and has been admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital, ” he said in the Facebook post.

Patients 30 and 35 were found to have travelled to Australia recently, while patient 33 attended a meeting in Kuching on Feb 16.

Dr Noor Hisham said that patients 31 and 32 have no record of overseas travel.

All patients have been admitted to the Sungai Buloh and Kuala Lumpur hospitals...
