Dengue cases in Selangor almost doubled from last year

SHAH ALAM: Dengue cases in Selangor has almost doubled with 57,980 people infected between January and Oct 12, this year – an increase of 25,366 cases, compared to the same period last year.
With the number of cases averaging about 1,400 cases a week, the alarming figure made up more than half of the 104,746 confirmed cases reported nationwide as of Oct 12 this year.
State Health, Welfare, Women Empowerment and Family Committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said Selangor continues to see a relentless climb in dengue cases, with 49 deaths until now for 2019.
Out of the nine districts in the state, Petaling topped the lists with 21,858 cases with 22 deaths, while Hulu Langat had 12,245 cases with 16 deaths and Klang recorded 10,698 cases with seven deaths.
The number of cases in the remaining districts were 7,497 in Gombak with four deaths, 2,176 in Sepang, 1,266 in Hulu Selangor, 1,058 in Kuala Selangor, 1,024 in Kuala Langat and 158 in Sabak Bernam...

SHAH ALAM: Dengue cases in Selangor has almost doubled with 57,980 people infected between January and Oct 12, this year – an increase of 25,366 cases, compared to the same period last year.
