LIBERIA
There continue to be profound problems affecting data acquisition in Liberia. Evidence obtained
from responders and laboratory staff in the country indicates beyond doubt that there is widespread under-reporting of new cases,
and that the situation in Liberia, and in Monrovia in particular,
continues to deteriorate from week to week. Approximately 200 new probable and suspected cases,
but very few confirmed cases, have been reported in the capital Monrovia in each of the past three
weeks. A substantial proportion of these suspected cases are most probably genuine cases of EVD,
and the reported fall in confirmed cases over the past three weeks reflects delays in matching
laboratory results with clinical surveillance data. Efforts continue to urgently address problems with
data acquisition in what is an extremely challenging environment, and it is likely that the figures will
be revised upwards in due course. The district of Margibi continues to report high numbers of new
confirmed and probable cases (31 in the past week), while the district of Grand Cape Mount has
reported new cases for the first time in three weeks. There continues to be a fall in the number of
new cases reported in Lofa, which borders Gueckedou in Guinea, with 12 confirmed and probable
cases reported this week compared with 39 the previous week. This appears to be a genuine
reduction.

LIBERIA
Data acquisition continues to be a challenge in Liberia. Evidence obtained from responders and
laboratory staff in the country suggests that the situation in Liberia is getting worse, and that
transmission remains intense in the capital, Monrovia.
As has been the case over the past four weeks, very few confirmed cases were reported from Monrovia between 6 and 11 October (figure 2),
reflecting ongoing delays in matching laboratory results with clinical surveillance data. By contrast,
138 suspected and probable cases were reported from Monrovia during the same period, many of
which are likely to be genuine cases of EVD. Outside Monrovia, most newly reported cases have
come from the districts of Bong (75 cases) and Margibi (28 cases). The recent fall in the number of
new cases reported from Lofa, which borders Gueckedou in Guinea, appears to have continued, with
reports from observers in the area suggesting that there is evidence of a genuine decline. It should
be noted, however, that the 13 new cases that were reported in Lofa between 6 and 11 October
represents a high number in the context of an EVD outbreak, and a concerted effort will be required
to halt all transmission in the area.

it says No.150, but the link has No.151 in it and it has data from Oct.13

the real No.150 is here: http://www.mohsw.gov.lr/documents/SITRep 150 Oct 12th, 2014.pdf

list here: http://www.mohsw.gov.lr/content_display.php?sub=report2

they no longer give "confirmed cases" , instead they list lab-results separately
I remember, they had to redo-lab results before because the Chinese Lab didn't assign
the results to the counties. So they can't list them in their table.
Maybe they should just add another County with name "unknown County" or such,
so the national total is still correct. They no longer mention the "Chinese lab"
they have LIBR and mobile labs, 4? in total

VHF Database (EPIINFO) is another source of data , see #146

yes, I mixed up the nations. I remembered one event when tests were
redone because of lacking assignment to regions.
Must have been Sierra Leone then.
So, why no more confirmed cases in Liberia ?

LIBERIA
The 444 confirmed, probable, and suspected cases reported from Liberia this week is the highest number in the
past four weeks and the fourth highest since the outbreak began (figure 2). Liberia remains the country worst
affected by the outbreak. All but one of Liberia s 15 administrative districts has now reported at least one
confirmed or probable case of EVD (figure 4) since the outbreak began, but transmission is most intense in the
capital, Monrovia, with 305 new probable and suspected cases reported this week.

Only 15 of the 444 new cases reported nationwide from Liberia this week are confirmed cases. This is due to a
continuing failure to integrate laboratory results into clinical epidemiology reports. Many probable and suspected
cases are likely to be genuine cases of EVD.

Outside Monrovia, most newly reported cases have come from the districts of Bong (40 cases), Margibi (22 cases),
and Nimba (29 cases), which borders both C te d Ivoire to the east and Guinea to the north. The recent fall in the
number of new cases reported from Lofa, which borders the district of Gueckedou in Guinea, has continued for a
third week (two confirmed cases). Reports from observers suggest this is a genuine decline as a result of control
measures

LIBERIA
Liberia has reported 6 535 confirmed, probable, and suspected cases, and remains the country worst affected by
the outbreak (figure 2).

The most intense transmission continues to occur in the Montserrado area, where 30 new probable cases were
reported in the last full week. This region takes in the Liberian capital, Monrovia. The weekly increase in new cases
in the area, however, appears to have halted since mid-September, with a reduction in numbers of confirmed and
probable cases reported in the week ending 5 October. It is possible that this reflects a true reduction in
incidence. However, further data are needed to resolve this question. Liberia continues to report few confirmed
cases. Laboratory data on recent confirmed cases may provide scope for deeper analysis not currently provided by
the incidence data. The capacity to capture a true picture of the situation in Liberia remains hamstrung by
underreporting of cases.

Outside Monrovia, most newly reported cases have come from the districts of Bong, Margibi, and Bomi, which
each reported 12 probable cases in the last full week. The district of Grand Gadeh, which was previously
considered the only unaffected area in Liberia, now has 2 confirmed and 2 suspected cases. It is likely, however,
that these cases did not occur in the past week, and the reporting of these cases has been delayed. Data for
Liberia are missing for 19, 20, 21, 26 and 27 October.
