Re: Liberia - Ebola: 6,535 clinical cases, 2,413 deaths as of October 27, 2014 (WHO Oct 29)

The total number of deaths increases by over 400 between the 10/25 report here http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=220644&page=8 and the 10/29 report above. They have either re-evaluated some of the 600 deaths they subtracted about a week ago, or more than 100 new deaths are being reported each day.

Re: Liberia - Ebola: 6,535 clinical cases, 2,413 deaths as of October 27, 2014 (WHO Oct 29)

I compiled cumulative deaths by County from the three latest reports in the old format (before the total dropped by 633) and three of the latest reports. I highlighted in yellow where the most significant decreases are recorded. Based on the data, it doesn't appear that the increase in cumulative cases from 2,104 on 10/24 to 2,609 on 10/29 was the result of adding previously deleted cases back into the totals because they are distributed differently (most notably in Bong County, Lofa County and Nimba County). Therefore, it appears that the average number of deaths is still increasing overall in Liberia, albeit not exponentially.

maybe they are adding deaths from the county-reports
into the VHF-system.
Or deaths from the hospitals, hospital-transfers

We saw these irregularities in Sierra Leone - they usually
have way too few deaths, then suddenly there was a big increase ...

case-counts are more reliable than death-counts

LIBERIA
There appears to be some evidence of a decline at the national level in Liberia, although new case numbers
remain high in parts of the country. While Liberia did not report any confirmed cases in its situation reports in the
past week, it reported 89 probable cases. The Montserrado area, which includes the capital of Monrovia,
accounted for 50 probable cases in the past week (figure 2). This continuing intensity of transmission emphasizes
the need to continue efforts to contain the spread of disease in the capital.

Transmission also persists in the district of Margibi, which reported 24 probable cases in the past week. Other
districts reporting probable cases in the past week are Sinoe (4), Grand Bassa and Grand Cape Mount (3 each),
and Bong and Nimba (2 each). However, in further evidence that the incidence is flattening in some districts, Lofa
did not report a single case in the past week. The district has shown a gradual decline in incidence in the past six
weeks. More data, including an analysis of laboratory data, are needed to examine more thoroughly the situation
in Liberia. Data for the country are missing for 1 and 2 November.

I think the titles in the columns are shifted, with fatalities standing at 2766. I don't know what the column on the right is.

LIBERIA
Weekly case numbers fell in Liberia from mid-September to the end of October. This decline has since stabilized,
and a reversal of this trend is possible. Liberia reported 97 confirmed and probable cases in the week to 8
November.

Efforts to control the disease remain critical, particularly in the capital of Monrovia (figure 2). The Montserrado
district, which includes Monrovia, accounted for 44 of the new confirmed and probable cases reported in that
week.

Case incidence is declining in the neighbouring district of Marigibi, but high transmission persists. Other areas of
high transmission include Bomi and Bong. Lofa, however, has experienced a consistent decline in new weekly
cases.

Re: Liberia - Ebola: 6,878 clinical cases, 2,812 deaths as of November 10, 2014 (WHO Nov 15)

we have no reports from Liberia since 12 days
The webpage gives again that bandwidth error

Can't WHO do the reporting ? Just require access to their VHF-database
And do some independent monitoring

The regions should put their regular email reports on some webpage
so we can add the numbers by ourselves, when the national
data center goes silent

They should say what the problem is

the state of emergency declared on Aug06 was ended on Nov13

hah, using WHO's new numbers below as keywords, I found it here:

LIBERIA
Case incidence appears to have stabilized over the past 4 weeks, after declining from mid-September until mid-October. A total of 80 probable cases were reported in the week to 15 November. Nationally, on average, between 10 and 20 laboratory-confirmed cases are being reported each day; the trend over time in the number of laboratory-confirmed cases reported each week has mirrored the trend shown in figure 2, with a decline followed by a levelling off in the past 4 weeks. With 46 newly reported probable cases, the Montserrado district, which includes the capital Monrovia, accounts for over half of all cases reported in Liberia during the past week. Bong (12 cases), Grand Bassa (2 cases), Grand Cape Mount (6 cases), Rivercess (13 cases) and Sinoe (1 case) are the only other districts to report a case during the past week. The district of Lofa, in the north of the country and on the border with Guinea, reported no cases for the third consecutive week.

I had no luck with the others

they show the number of cases by the old (non-VHF) system in a chart,
but only the national total, not by region.
It looks stable, but not really declining.

Unfortunately they no longer give cumulative counts for the
regions with the old method, so it's hard to estimate the missing reports

They now also give red points for the number of PCR-tests

weekly cases, last 4 weeks :
old:231,278,295,282e
VHF:227e,234,297,247e

it's not clear whether the laboratory confirmed cases
have to be added to this or are already included

LIBERIA
Case incidence has stabilized over the past 5 weeks, after declining from mid-September until mid-October. A total of 67 confirmed cases were reported in the week to 23 November.

The district of Montserrado, which includes the capital Monrovia, reported 40 confirmed cases: 60% of all cases reported in Liberia in the week to 23 November. Bomi (2 cases), Bong (10 cases), Grand Bassa (1 case), Grand Cape Mount (12 cases), and Margibi (2 cases) are the only other districts to report a case during the same period.

The district of Lofa, in the north of the country and on the border with Guinea and Sierra Leone, reported no cases for the fourth consecutive week.
