In order to get the hospitalization and death data on the same graph, I had to interpolate some of the data points provided by CDC since I couldn't get Excel to connect the data points otherwise. Also, the last hospitalization data point is based on my count, which includes estimates in many states, but is an underestimation because I have been conservative with my estimates. The last two death counts are from FT, since the most current CDC number is based on reports received through last Thursday morning.

Sorry, but I still haven't had time to figure out how to post the graph directly into the thread, so it's attached.

Here is the updated chart. If someone can help me and post it directly into the thread, I'd appreciate it. I still haven't figured out how to do that. :oem

The slope looks pretty constant, so I don't see any indication that either the rate of hospitalizations or deaths over time has decreased. The data are from the CDC's published numbers, with a few interopolated points where either the hospitalizations or deaths were not available. Their total deaths are about 50 less that the FT total.

From this data, can we derive a fatality rate of flu patients hospitalized?

Is there any data on length of hospitalizations or a count of how many people are actively in the hospital due to H1N1?

The point being are the beds being filled up and some point those that need to be hospitalized will not be able to.

Likewise and data on ventilators?

Does that graph represent deaths from all causes?

As it is indicating 12 thousand cumulative deaths.
