A glimmer of hope

In an event that takes place over two weeks in February and October each year, the morning sun peeks through a three-meter-wide space between cliffs separating Minami-Sanrikucho and Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, on Wednesday morning. The scenic spot "Kamiwarizaki" (cape divided by god) was named after a legend in which the neighboring villages fought over land until a huge cliff suddenly split in half.
