Jammu, Feb 27 (PTI) An army jawan posted at the Akhnoor-based Crossed Swords Division died of swine flu today.
"Soldier Havildar Dangar Bavan Danabhai, who was serving under Crossed Swords Division, died of swine flu at the Military Hospital, Satwari today," Jammu-based defense spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said.

A middle-aged man today succumbed to swine flu at a government hospital here taking the death toll to five in the region, while nine more persons were tested positive for the contagious disease.

Jammu, Feb 28: As many as 208 persons have tested positive for swine flu in Jammu and Kashmir today, state government said today. 208 people were found positive for H1N1 virus, and also in this regard reports of 98 people who underwent the test are awaited, an official spokesman said. As many as 181 cases have tested positive for H1N1 Influenza till today in Srinagar, he said.

Srinagar, Mar 2: Following a lull of about a week, H1N1 influenza claimed one more life at SKIMS today. This takes the toll of officially confirmed deaths in JK, attributable to H1N1 influenza, to 8.
According to SKIMS PRO, 27 year old male from Shopian was admitted at SKIMS on February 23, 2015. He had Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and symptoms of influenza. His influenza-A test was positive but the reports for H1N1 were not ready till last reports came in.
... Meanwhile, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that young healthy adults dying of H1N1 is a matter of serious concern.
President DAK and H1N1 expert Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan said there is a possible change in H1N1 virus as young healthy adults are dying in contrast to its known fatalities in high risk individuals.
?The official figures of deaths due to H1N1 in Kashmir are underestimated as majority of patients are not tested,? he said.

A 50-year old man having H1N1 influenza died at SKIMS here on Friday. With this death, the number of officially confirmed H1N1 deaths in J&K reached 11.
The deceased, a resident of Ganderbal, died after a fortnight of stay in the hospital. ?The person was on ventilator since February 21. He had many other complications besides H1N1 influenza,? Dr. Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS, said.

JAMMU, Mar 6: A lady died today of suspected swine flu in an Army Hospital in Rajouri while seven more cases of swine flu were reported in Jammu during last 48 hours taking the total number of affected patients with the dreaded disease in Jammu region to 53.
According to an Army spokesperson, a 55-year old woman having swine flu symptoms died at an Army Hospital, Rajouri, in the intervening night of March 5 and 6. ?The woman identified as Chanchal Devi wife of Havildar (Retd) Om Prakash was admitted with severe swine flu symptoms in the hospital yesterday morning, where she died today at about 1.30 am?, he said, adding that the report of her swab sample, which was sent to New Delhi for testing, is still awaited.

The SKIMS PRO, Sanna Kulsoom while confirming the deaths said that two deaths took place in last 24 hours. " 5 year old child from Tangmarg who was admitted on 3rd March as acute lymphocytic leukaemia with respiratory disorders passed at 1.00 p.m, intervening night of 7 to 8 March. Another 45 yrs male from sopore was admitted on 5 march with acute viral syndrome died last late night," she said.

Sheeri, Feb 25: An eight standard student of Sheeri Mirhar village died of severe fever, fatigue and respiratory disorder when he was being ferried to the District Hospital Baramulla in critical condition on Wednesday.
The sudden death of the 14-year-old Adil Ashraf Sheikh of Mirher Sheeri, three days after he fell ill has sent shock waves across the district as people suspect that death was due to swine flu. Doctors too are not ruling out the possibility.

A 42-year-old woman from Ganderbal district of central Kashmir died of swine flu today at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura. She had tested positive for H1N1 influenza and was admitted to SKIMS a week ago after she suffered from Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
Medical Superintendent Dr Farooq Jan said t the woman died this morning at the hospital. The total number of deaths due to swine flu, as per SKIMS spokesperson, is 12.

Srinagar, March 14 (IANS) With one more H1N1 infected patient dying here overnight, the death toll in swine flu infection has risen to 17 in Jammu and Kashmir.
"A 42-year-old woman died last night (Friday). She was admitted a week ago with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and had tested positive for H1N1 influenza", a doctor at the super-specialty Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) told IANS in summer capital Srinagar on Saturday.

JAMMU, Mar 15: As authorities today confirmed one more death due to swine flu in Jammu, the toll due to the dreaded disease in Jammu region has climbed to four.
According to Director Health Jammu, BS Pathania, a 48 year old lady identified as Surjeet Kour wife of Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Upper Gadigarh, Jammu, succumbed to the disease in a private hospital at Ludhiana on March 3.

?There has been a significant drop in the number of patients visiting the special respiratory OPD at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) in Srinagar. Last week, the number of patients visiting the OPD was between 10 and 65 as compared to 300 patients in the previous weeks. The situation is same at the special OPD at Chest Diseases (CD) Hospital in Srinagar. The reduction in the number of cases has also been observed at the district and sub-district hospital in Kashmir,? stated the report.
The High Court is hearing public interest litigation (PIL) about the outbreak of swine flu in the region which has so far claimed over 12 lives, with 391 persons having tested positive for the H1N1 virus till date in the Kashmir Valley.
