Indonesia Confirms 109th Bird Flu Human Case
Jakarta, October 11, 2007 - Bird Flu Information Center - Test results from the Health Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Health confirmed that IR, a 12-year old boy from Tangerang District in Banten province, is the latest human case of avian influenza in Indonesia.
The boy had onset on 30 September 2007 and was examined by a midwife on 3 - 4 October 2007 before being taken to Tangerang Hospital on 8 October 2007.
He was then reffered to Persahabatan Hospital in Jakarta on 9 October 2007 with symptoms of fever, leucopenia, thrombositopenia and pneumonia.
Until today, the patient is still hospitalized at Persahabatan Hospital in Jakarta.
This case brings Indonesia confirmed bird flu on human tolls at 109 cases with 87 fatalities.
