Re: Indonesian Human Cases Nov 3+

Well, RSAU just stands for "Rumah Sakit Angkatan Udara" or "Hospital Air Force", so that's not very helpful.

I think Al's got the best lead here (thanks, Al!):
I was unable to find the exact location of the Air Force hospital Rumah Sakit Pusat Angkatan Udara. But the blog suggests that Captain Kasimin was member of Skadron Udara 8 which is apparently headquartered at Atang Senjaya which is in the Bogor District south of Jakarta. http://www.tni-au.mil.id/orbat.asp

PEKANBARU--Satu lagi balita suspect flu burung ditemukan di Rokan Hulu. AS (1 th) merupakan balita asal Desa Rambah baru Kecamatan rambah Samo Kabupaten Rohul. AS dinyatakan suspect flu burung setelah mengalami sesak nafas, batuk dan demam. Yang paling mengarah ke suspect, belum lama ini AS menurut pengakuan keluarga pernah melakukan kontak dengan unggas di tempat asalnya itu yang sebelumnya sudah ditemukan kasus flu burung pada unggas di situ.

Demikian disampaikan Kasubdin Pelayanan Kesehatan Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Riau Burhanuddin Agung menjawab riautoday.com Selasa (4/12).

(hnr)

Re: Indonesian Human Cases Nov 3+

In the absence of MSM reports of any actual or suspect bird flu cases, we can only surmise suppositions from the limited information available.

The above (limited) information has two similarities, apart the small gap from apparent onset dates of illness in each of two cases.

Post from Dutchy re: Brigadier Samsul Bahri (32), 'the member Traffic Police Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (UN conference guard) died of a heavy flu.'

And

Captain Kasimin, who was referred to the military hospital for treament. The post below suggests that 'Captain Kasimin was member of Skadron Udara 8 which is apparently headquartered at Atang Senjaya which is in the Bogor District south of Jakarta.'

As far as I can tell from the maps there is overlap between the two regions of Greater Jakarta, and Bogor.

It is likely that given the UN conference that there has been a full mobilisation of all resources to police and protect delegates, and therefore close contacts between both the military and police forces. Therefore congratulations to one and all for finding these reports, and perhaps we should continue to keep a particular eye out for any further such instances in either the military or police.

It would appear from the case of Captain Kasimin that there has been no contact with poultry in this instance, and it would be (I would surmise) fairly unlikely given the seniority of the officer and his standing in the community - he would not be doing his own cooking or shopping, especially if he was quartered at the military base.

If this is too speculative a post, please feel free to delete.
