India is currently making preparations for the 2023 Indian MotoGP at the Buddh Circuit, 22-24 September. However, in less than a week of implementation, various problems emerged, including the Nipah virus outbreak which spread in the country.

About 800 people have been tested over the past few days in the southern state of Kerala, with two adults and a child hospitalized after receiving positive diagnoses.
"We are testing humans and at the same time experts are collecting fluid samples from forest areas that may be the epicenter of the spread," said Veena George, the state's health minister, as quoted by Reuters..... :tiphat:https://terasbhayangkara.com/plugin...pekan-nanti-tetapi-virus-nipah-mewabah-

No genetic mutation in Nipah after genome sequencing, says minister

TNN / Sep 20, 2023, 10:07 IST

KOZHIKODE: The genome sequencing of Nipah virus samples taken from infected persons in the current outbreak revealed that the virus has not undergone genetic mutations compared to the samples tested during the earlier outbreaks in Kerala. After a review meeting on Tuesday afternoon, health minister Veena George said that the virus samples taken from Nipah persons in the current outbreak were similar to viruses found in humans in the earlier outbreaks of 2018, 2019 and 2021 in the genetic sequencing tests conducted at National Institute of Virology, Pune.
:magnify:"The sequences were found to be 99.7% similar in tests, while in some tests they were 100% similar. They (ICMR-NIV, Pune) informed us that there is no mutation in the virus," she said. George also said that genetic sequencing of samples collected from humans as well as bats were conducted in 2018, 2019 and 2021 and they were found to be similar then. She said that studies on whether there were changes in clinical presentations of patients during the current outbreak will be held later....

The "new guy and his 2 dead friends" are in a different area, with the only link being travel to the affected state. They didn't have contact with any of the confirmed cases. While they could indeed have contracted Nipah from an animal reservoir, they could just as well have a different disease.

Could the original post on this exported "case" have confused the two confirmed Nipah deaths in Kerala with contacts of this traveler?

Kerala-returnee migrant worker admitted in Beliaghata ID with Nipah-like symptoms

The youth, a migrant worker from East Burdwan district, was admitted to the Calcutta National Medical College on September 11 with high fever, nausea, and a sore throat, all of which are Nipah symptoms alongside a multitude of other viral infections

Sougata Mukhopadhyay Calcutta Published 20.09.23, 03:55 PM

...
Dr Siddhartha Neogi, state director of health services, said: “The patient is past the incubation period. But since he returned from Kerala where several cases of Nipah virus infections have been reported, we are not taking any chances. Doctors are keeping a close watch on him."
...
Additional caution was being exercised by doctors on grounds that the patient was initially admitted to a hospital in Ernakulam after he complained of high fever. He returned to West Bengal after being discharged from the hospital but fell ill again within a couple of days. “We have learnt from the patient that two of his co-workers in Kerala were afflicted with the virus and perished,” an official said.

.....

He said alarm has been sounded in border areas and all government and private hospitals are put on high alert. About 20 check posts have been set up in these four districts and over 10,000 people have been screened for fever, cough and other symptoms so far. A sample of a youth admitted to Beleghata ID Hospital suspected of being infected with Nipah virus has been sent for testing. It is not yet clear what the Kerala-returned youth was infected with. Although Nadin is admitted to a government hospital in the city, four different samples taken from his body were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune on Wednesday.

According to sources, the young man has been suffering from fever for about 14 days. He has a lung infection. Both legs are swollen. He has to be given 2-4 liters of oxygen. According to doctors, the young man's blood is showing signs of septicemia and bacterial infection. Tuberculosis-like symptoms also occur in the lungs. So there is less chance of contracting Nipah virus. No health official is willing to talk about what happened to the migrant worker. According to health department sources, the worker, a resident of Burdwan, will be treated in isolation until the report comes.

On this day, urine, blood, saliva and nasal fluid samples of the young man were sent to Pune. On the other hand, doctors are in another dilemma. During his stay at the National Medical College, the young man claimed that two of his companions had died of Nipah virus. But on this day, he claimed, he was not in contact with anyone affected by Nipah.
