Heat wave death toll rises to 143 in Telangana

Hyderabad, April 29 : The death toll from a heat wave sweeping Telangana rose to 143 on Friday as six more deaths were reported.
According to officials in the disaster management department, reports of deaths due to sun stroke continued to pour in from different parts of the state.

KOTTAYAM: A 42-year-old man died of suspected sun stroke in Kallara in the district today, police said.
Sabu from Mundar in Kaduthuruthy was fishing in a stream when he suddenly collapsed and died on the spot around noon, they said.
His body had burn marks indicating he suffered heat stroke, police said, adding the exact cause of the death could be ascertained only after postmortem.

Around 200 families residing at Upper Bagdogra under Naxalbari block are facing acute drinking water crisis as the water level has rapidly gone down due to adequate rainfall.
People residing at Danra Gaon which is around 10 feet high from Lower Bagdogra are mostly hit hard by the water crisis as the wells are mostly dried and the water supplied from PHE are presently stopped due to the construction of Asian Highway II.
