The number of infections of infections is increasing steadily. The department is continuously campaigning for awareness and rescue. Arunkumar, a virologist, and his team from the Manipal Centre for Virus Research, Manipal University, would be roped in to investigate the 'mystery' fever.

Also, after we alerted the authorities of the ground situation in Gorakhpur, they haven't taken enough action.? Unless better diagnostic labs are set up at community health centres and district hospitals, and doctors and even patients vulnerable to the disease are made aware, a disease that can be treated easily will continue to confound doctors. And each year, Gorakhpur will continue to battle a 'mystery' fever.

I haven't see anyone else following up on BRD hospital in Gorakhpur to examine its fatality figures in September. Promed had issued an RFI asking for information on the proportion of deaths caused by encephalitis at the hospital.

From Sep 1-Sep 28, 95 patients at the hospital died of encephalitis.
The Jagran frequently (but not every day!) gives daily tallies of deaths at the hospital. These reports account for 67 encephalitis deaths (71% of all encephalitis deaths). These reports also tally 340 total child deaths at the hospital. It seems that encephalitis deaths make up about 20% of the total reported deaths at the hospital. Assuming these proportions remain the same, the hospital saw around 480 deaths of children in total between Sep 1-28.

I'll keep an eye out for any official reports.

A police constable, S. Thangasamy (28) of Uzhakudi in Virudhunagar district, died of ?brain fever? at a private hospital here on Tuesday.

The constable, attached to Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) battalion in Manimuthur in Tirunelveli district, got married only on September 15, police said.

He had joined the police force as a volunteer of Youth Brigade and was subsequently recruited for the TSP in 2015.

Death of 418 children in August and 433 in September 2017 during treatment at BRD medical college in Gorakhpur are far less as compared to the deaths in the corresponding months in the previous years, reveals hospital data.

BRD medical college was in the news over the death of 30 children due to alleged disruption in oxygen supply on August 10 and 11.

The official data shows that the number of casualties dropped sharply in both August and September this year as compared to previous years. Last year, the total no of deaths in September was 601. In September 2014, and 2015 the hospital reported 563 and 635 deaths.

The September figure includes 186 deaths from encephalitis, the annual killer in East UP. Of the total deaths in September this year, 57 deaths have occurred in 96 hours between August 28 and September 1.

In 14 hours, 14 died in BRD Medical College in the last 24 hours. Of these, nine were admitted to Newborn ICU while five were in the Pediatric ICU. In the pediatric ICU, there were three infections in the dying mosquitoes. Two adults died from Insefhytitis. The five people who died from the disease include Kanhaiya, five years of Gorakhpur, 12 year old Shilpi of Deoria, eight years of Manisha of Siddhartha Nagar, 30 years of Madhusudan of Bihar and 50 years of Shani Devi of the settlement. During this time 23 new patients of Insefitis were admitted. These include eight of Gorakhpur, three of Deoria, six in Kushinagar, two in Bihar and Basti and one each from Maharajganj and Siddhartha Nagar. 135 patients are being treated in Nehru Hospital. Since January this year, 1391 patients have been admitted in the BRD Medical College, out of which 135 have been admitted.

17 died in the past 24 hours in Baba Raghavdas Medical College. This includes recruitment of 11 newborn ICUs and 6 Innocent recruitment in Pediatric ICU. In these six, two children died from Incephalitis.

Among those who died of Incephalitis include Deoria's six-year Aman and four-year development of Bihar. During this 25 new patients were recruited. Among them, there are nine patients from Gorakhpur, four each from Maharajganj, Kusinagar and Deoria, two in Sant Kabirnagar and one each from Siddhartha Nagar and Gonda. 144 patients admitted to Nehru Hospital are undergoing treatment. Since January this year, 1416 patients of INSephalitas have been admitted in BRD Medical College, out of which 298 have died.

Among the 19 new patients recruited are six in Gorakhpur, two in Deoria and Siddharthnagar, four in Kushinagar, two in Gonda and one each from Sant Kabir Nagar, Gonda and Bihar. Treatment of 142 patients admitted in Nehru Hospital Since January this year, 1435 patients have been admitted to BRD Medical College, out of which 303 have died.

Death of a young man with brain fever


The youth died due to brain fever in Ruppur village of Thana area. The news of death caused a lot of chaos in the family. The villagers have raised the demand for cleanliness in the village.
On Thursday, JainulAvedeen, a resident of Ruppur village, died of brain fever. Jainul Avedi was having fever for a week. Karin was treating the youth with the doctors of the village. When the health of the young man got worse then he took his personal physician to Moradabad. When the doctor examined the young man, then the brain was confirmed to have brain fever. The family said that during treatment, the blood from the nose and mouth of the young man came and he died. From the news of death the young man's mother Sarvari fell unconscious. Father officers fall into the ground after being gobbled up. The family got angry. The deceased was the eldest of five sisters. He had studied Maulvi On the other hand, villagers say that there was no cleaning in the village for a long time. The spread of dirty water drains on the streets is spreading the disease. The village also gave Rabil Pasha the baby, the fever also has a fever.

In the BRD Medical College, there is no mention of the deaths due to infections caused by Insefalitis. During the last 24 hours, five more patients died in the medical college. Three patients died of Insefhytis Ward and two patients died in Medicine Ward. The number of people who died this year has increased to 308 this year.

Among the dead, most of the patients were from Kushinagar. Anas, Pawan and Gulaba devi were killed there. Inpatient patients of other districts were involved in the feudalism of Payal and Deoria of Gorakhpur. During the last 24 hours, 15 new infections were admitted to the Medical College. Those recruited include seven in Gorakhpur, three from Deoria, two in Siddhartha Nagar and one each from Kushinagar, Bihar and Mau. Till this year 1450 INSEFLITS patients have come to the medical college for treatment. Of these, 134 patients are still undergoing treatment.

3 children, 20-yr-old woman die of fever in CMCH

Coimbatore: Three children and a 20-year-old woman died of fever at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) through Thursday evening and into the wee hours of Friday. While one of the children was from Alandur in Coimbatore, the other three patients were from Tirupur.
The hospital records showed that six-year-old Priyahasini from Alandur died of acute encephalitis. She was admitted on October 3 with fever and died on October 5 at 8.15 pm, when her condition deteriorated to sepsis and finally respiratory failure.

The other patients, 20-year-old Vanishree, 10-year-old Karanya and eight-year-old Sathyavathi hailed from Tirupur. Karanya, who was suffering from meningo encephalitis, was admitted on September 23 and died on Thursday evening, said hospital officials. Vanishree, who was shifted from Dharapuram Government Hospital at 7.27 pm on Thursday, died around 12.15am on Friday again of encephalitis. Sathyavathy's death was attributed to hypotension shock after viral fever.

Fear of death hunts Malkangiri again, four children die of "mystery" disease

Malkangiri: The Naveen Patnaik government does not have learnt adequately from the recurrent occurrence of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) an Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) that kill a number of infants in the tribal dominated Malkangiri district almost every year.

Located at a distance of around 650 km from Odisha capital Bhubaneswar, the tribal dominated Malkangiri which lost at least 102 due to the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis and AES in 2016 has lost four children in the last four days.

Though the state health department is yet to confirm if the children were victims of JE, AES or any other form of encephalitis caused by viral or bacterial infections, - the recurrence of the disease has triggered panic among the local people.

There are 130 patients recruited in different wards of Nehru Hospital. Since January this year, 1470 patients have been admitted to BRD Medical College, out of which 310 have been killed.

Bhujauli Bazar (Kushinagar): The village panchayat of Khida Thana, a resident of Ekal, a resident of Gulariya, died of Inseflitis of 20-year-old daughter Shilpa Tiwari of Tiwari. The medical college was undergoing treatment for the victim. According to the family, Shilpa had a fever three months ago, she was taken to the community health center of Turko. Where the doctors sent them home after treatment. If there was a fever in between then the people of the house showed it to the doctor. After Shilpa suddenly fell unconscious on October 3, the family took them to the Primary Health Center pit. The doctors there referred him to a medical college. Where Shilpa died on Saturday during the treatment.

On the other hand, according to the report released from Medical College, eight patients died of Infephitis in 48 hours in the last 48 hours. Among the deceased, Dheeraj of Dewaria, Amica of Basti, Jainabh and Nizwa of Maharajganj, Lucky of Gunash, Gunjya and Angad and Rohit Kumar of Bihar are included. BRD Medical College has so far killed 318 people with Insefitis this year. There are currently 104 patients being treated.

The relatives showed him the doctors of Jaspur, Kashipur and Moradabad for treatment. After long treatment, where doctors referred to brain fever and referred it to Delhi. Shueb died in Delhi on Sunday after treatment for nearly a month.

Comment: A media report has reported the number of fatalities in Odisha as 60. A report from Jharkhand in this thread tells of 64 deaths at one hospital alone. Tamil Nadu has seen at least 5 fatalities, Kerala has reported 4 fatalities, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttarakhand & Maharashtra have all reported 1 fatality each in reports in this thread. In total this amounts to 842 fatalities so far this year. As always, I am dubious about these official figures. Some states like Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Manipur & Karnataka have large numbers of cases, but seem to report few fatalities.

On 10/10, 318 cumulative fatalities were reported from BRD, Gorakhpur implying 49 fatalities have now occurred elsewhere in the state.

There is a continuation of deaths due to Insepflitis in Purbachal. In the past 24 hours, 18 new patients were admitted in the BRD Medical College and eight others died. 109 patients admitted to Nehru Hospital are undergoing treatment.

The deceased include Mukesh, Kushinagar, two years of Lakshmi, four-year-old Kaif, five-year-old Ranjana and five-year-old Amit, five-year fund of Maharajganj and 20-year-old Devraj, and 55-year-old Champa Devi. Since January this year, 1526 patients of INSephalitas have been recruited from BRD Medical College, out of which 330 have died.
