My thoughts - I suspect that the majority of the reported fever cases are not due to Herpes, but are a combination of dengue, chikungunya, diarrhoea and all the other possible pathogens in the summer monsoon season. Take those away and what we're left with is around 20 suspected cases of whom three died in the past month. Of the 4 specifically mentioned cases, all were aged above 50. - Ro

Mysore, June 17- A four-year-old girl reportedly died of brain fever at the Cheluvamba Hospital in city yesterday morning.

The girl Pallavi, of Chinakuruli village in K.R. Pet taluk of Mandya district, was earlier suspected to have died of dengue. Some newspapers too had reported that the girl?s death was caused by dengue.

Siliguri, June 17: The health department will give vaccinations to more than one lakh children in the age group of 1-15 against Japanese encephalitis in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation area in July.

?The Union ministry of health and family welfare has identified Darjeeling district as a high-priority area affected by Japanese encephalitis as some cases of the disease were reported from the district last year. Nine other districts in the state are also in the same category. We are starting the vaccination drive for over one lakh children in the age group of 1-15 in the SMC area from the first week of July.
