Mangaluru: A student studying in the third standard of private school at Urwa in the city died of dengue fever on Tuesday, July 16. The deceased is identified as Krish N Suvarna (8).

Initially, the kid was suffering from high fever and hence, was admitted into a private hospital. He breathed his last on Tuesday afternoon. The public is claiming that dengue had claimed the child?s life while the district health department officials have denied this fact.

After a 12-year-old student, who tested positive for dengue, died on Thursday night here, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has formed a main command centre headed by him to oversee data collection, vector control and awareness activities for dengue in the city.

Class VII student Shradha Shetty was admitted to a private hospital two days ago following fever. She was shifted to another hospital where preliminary tests showed her positive for dengue. She died following ?atypical lymphoiod hyperplasia? reaction following the viral fever, said District Disease Surveillance Officer Navinchandra Kulal.

This is the second death following dengue infection. A 10-year-old boy died in a private hospital following suspected dengue shock syndrome on Tuesday night. As on Friday, the city has 441 positive cases of dengue and 100-odd suspected cases, Mr. Senthil said.

Woman dies of dengue at Odisha?s SCB Hospital

Cuttack: A 60-year-old woman, who was suffering from dengue and undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha?s Cuttack, died today.

The deceased has been identified as Debaki Behera of Aul area in Kendrapara district. She was admitted in the ICU of the Dengue Ward of the hospital since July 29.

While the government has been downplaying the dengue menace in Telangana, two more deaths due to dengue were confirmed in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as 13-year-old T John Winston, and five-year-old K Ruthvika, who died while availing treatment in two different private hospitals. John succumbed to dengue on Tuesday, while Ruthvika, a resident of Lalapet in Secunderabad, died at Rainbow Hospital in Banjara Hills on Wednesday. Reportedly, Ruthvika's platelet count had dropped alarmingly.

A 24-year-old dengue patient died at a private hospital in Kolkata on Friday, even as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed the state Assembly that 17 people have died of the vector-borne disease till September 5 this year. She also said that around 10,500 have been affected by dengue in the state.

As per reports, Mamoni Das, a resident of Naryanpur area under North 24 Paraganas district, died in the morning at a private hospital on E M Bypass. While her death certificate shows multi-organ failure as the immediate cause, it also mentions she was suffering from dengue. North 24 Paraganas district, that borders Bangladesh, is one of the worst-affected districts by dengue.
