[There is no specific treatment for dengue/severe dengue, but early detection and provision of timely proper medical care can reduce fatality to less than one percent. Maintenance of body fluid volume is critical to severe dengue care (http://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/dengue-and-severe-dengue). To prevent and control dengue virus transmission, it is necessary to control mosquito vector density and/or interrupt human-vector contact. Community awareness, surveillance of cases and vectors, and provision of diagnostic facilities are required to contain the disease.
