CUTTACK: The first dengue death case of the current season in Cuttack district has been reported from the worst-affected Tangi with a 33-year-old woman succumbing to the mosquito-borne disease at SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Pratima Swain of Tantira in Harianta gram panchayat under Tangi-Choudwar block.

Chhattisgarh Dengue deaths: NCDC team visits Chhattisgarh's Bhilai area

A team of the Union government's National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) today visited Bhilai in Chhattisgarh's Durg district in connection with seven dengue deaths that have occurred recently.
The NCDC team was led by deputy assistant director Dr Amarpal Singh Bhadauriya who was accompanied by Dr Sandip Jogdand, deputy director of NCDCs regional official in Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh.
A state health department official said that the NCDC team collected samples of adult mosquitoes from Shankar Nagar area of Bhilai to ascertain its virus and suggest a larvicide to destroy its larvae.

Dengue cases rise to 79 in first two weeks of August in Mumbai

The number of dengue cases have risen in the month of August in comparison to in the month of June and July. The total number of dengue cases diagnosed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) within 15 days in August is 79.
As per the data given by the epidemiology cell of the BMC?s public health department, in July, 60 cases were diagnosed and in June, 21 cases were diagnosed. Within two weeks of August, the number of cases increased to 79. This year in monsoon, so far 160 cases of dengue have been reported across the city.
The BMC in the report also stated that within two weeks of August 1,183 cases of dengue-like illness were admitted in the city?s hospital in comparison to 995 probable cases of dengue-like illness admitted in July.

JNN, Sundernagar (Mandi): A person suffering from dengue has died in Dahir, in the border district of Himachal Pradesh and in the border of Bilaspur. At the time of taking PGI on Sunday, the victim, near Bilaspur, lost his temper. This is the first death due to dengue this year in the state. Rudra Kumar (43), resident of Alus, who was buying redeemed garments in Dahir, was unwell for several days.
On Saturday, the family had taken him to the Regional Hospital Mandir, due to poor health. On Sunday, PGI referred him to the Regional Hospital Mandi. On the way, the family took him to Bilaspur Regional Hospital, after the doctors got him dead. District Health Officer Mandi Dr. Dinesh Sharma said that on Sunday, the PGI had referred to Chandigarh when it got worse. Ravindra was also suffering from infection with hypertension, diabetes and long wounds in the leg along with dengue. In Dahar, about 34 people have been found to be suffering from dengue.
