The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) confirmed the presence of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in a farm in Békés county that keeps about 2,000 mallard ducks. Protection and surveillance areas have been designated. The agency also confirmed the disease in birds kept in captivity at an animal shelter in Budapest.

The disease appeared in Battonya, an area of ​​Békés County that has so far been free of bird flu. The Nébih laboratory showed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the samples taken before transport to the slaughterhouse in the colony with almost 2,000 mallard ducks. The caretakers did not observe any symptoms of the disease in the animals.

The animal health experts took the necessary epidemic prevention measures, among other things, they designated the protection and observation area. In the free areas of Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád counties, the previously introduced restrictions and mandatory swab tests are still in effect. In addition, swab tests are mandatory throughout the country before the technological movement of waterfowl.

In recent days, birds kept in captivity at an animal shelter in Budapest have also experienced sudden death. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the samples. This case also supports the importance of the role of wild birds as virus carriers, as well as the necessity of continuous maintenance of epidemic prevention measures. Livestock keepers must do everything possible to protect their herd from infection.

We will not get rid of bird flu - millions of birds have to be killed

Last week, the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus appeared in Battonya, an area of ​​Békés county that was free from bird flu until then. This year, the animal health authority reported four more outbreaks: in addition to the already mentioned battonyai, a large flock of breeding turkeys fell victim to the virus at Nádudvar in Hajdú-Bihar, while a flock of fattening turkeys had to be eradicated at Császártölles in Bács-Kiskun county. Last week, Nébih also confirmed the disease in the birds kept at the Noé Animal Home, which, according to the animal health authority, once again proves the importance of the role of wild birds as virus carriers, as well as the need to continuously maintain epidemic prevention measures.

According to the hopes of the poultry farmers and the plans of the animal health authority, certain districts will be opened in the second half of January - provided that there are no new outbreaks affecting the given area. For them, it is a matter of life to be able to start again with installations and production as soon as possible...

Nine thousand ducks were sentenced to death, the bird flu is ravaging again

The presence of the bird flu virus was confirmed by the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) at a mallard duck colony in Pustaszer, in the county of Csongrád-Csanád; the stock is being liquidated, the protection and monitoring districts have been designated by the animal health authority, the agency announced on its website on Monday.

According to the announcement, the increased mortality and nervous system symptoms at the colony that keeps about 9 thousand mulard ducks raised the suspicion of bird flu. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus.

Animal health specialists immediately began to eradicate the herd....

Bird flu is raging again in Bács-Kiskun
The number of bird flu outbreaks in the county of Bács-Kiskun is rising again. According to information published on the website of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), the Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus in Bács-Kiskun at 19 sites in March, and at nine sites until April 5.

The number of bird flu outbreaks is increasing again in Bács-Kiskun county. Protection zones with a radius of three kilometers have been designated around the affected farms, as well as an extended surveillance zone larger than a circle with a radius of 10 kilometers. In April, protection zones were designated in Bugac, Csólyospálos, Jászszentlászló, Kiskunfélegyháza, Kiskunmajsa, Kömpöc, Móricgát, Pálmonostóra, Petőfiszállás and Szank.

In addition to Bács-Kiskun, in the county of Csongrád-Csanád, the number of deaths and neurological symptoms increased in several livestock farms, raising the suspicion of bird flu. Most recently, the presence of the H5N1 subtype was detected in a flock of mallard ducks in Csengel, located at the border of the two counties. Animal health specialists immediately started to liquidate the affected herd.

The bird flu cases detected in the past period also confirm that keeping the flocks closed and observing the epidemic prevention regulations is extremely important, so livestock keepers in all areas of the country must do everything in order to protect their flocks from the disease - Nébih warned on its website.

In the non-restricted areas of Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád counties, Nébih allowed the introduction of waterfowl flocks under strict conditions from mid-November last year.

Bird flu is spreading again in the Southern Great Plain

In the counties of the Southern Great Plain, the number of animal farms where the presence of bird flu has been confirmed is constantly increasing. According to information published on the website of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), the H5N1 virus was detected in a duck farm in Kiskunhalas last Friday.

Due to the presence of highly pathogenic bird flu, the national veterinarian ordered new epidemic prevention measures. The temporary rules for the introduction and movement of poultry can also be read on the Nébih website.

According to the published information: in the non-restricted areas of the counties of Bács-Kiskun, Csongrád-Csanád and Békés, re-stocking, that is, stocking in the place of the herd eradicated due to bird flu infection, may be allowed: in the case of non-waterfowl poultry, following an official on-site inspection with a favorable result, in the case of waterfowl poultry, a favorable result even after an official on-site inspection, only in the event that delivery from the farm only takes place to a slaughterhouse, for immediate slaughter.
