Bird flu has also been identified in Vészt
Körös News Center
Article uploaded: 2023-12-13 8:10

The highly pathogenic avian influenza virus also appeared in Komárom-Esztergom County, as well as in Vésztő, in the previously free area of Békés County. The liquidation of the affected herds and the epidemiological investigation are ongoing.

In the fattening turkey colony of about 51,400 individuals located in the Mocsa settlement in the Komárom-Esztergom county, the livestock keeper noticed an increased mortality rate. The Nébih laboratory detected the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the dead animals. In addition, the virus also appeared in the settlement of Zsadány in Békés County, in a herd of 7,500 geese.

The eruption is outside the previously ordered, restricted areas. The affected stocks are currently being liquidated. A protection zone with a radius of 3 km was designated around the farms, and a surveillance (observation) zone with a radius of 10 km was defined. In both cases, the epidemiological investigation revealing the causes of the appearance of the disease is also ongoing.

These outbreaks also prove that bird flu can appear in any area of the country. Protection against wild birds is therefore of utmost importance, since the virus most often appears in new areas through the medium of wild birds. It is important to know that strict and consistent compliance with epidemic prevention regulations minimizes the risk of direct or indirect contact with wild birds.

In order to prevent infection, it is also important to keep commercial poultry in counties identified as high risk. In the case of all poultry farms, feed and litter must be stored under cover, it is necessary to strive to reduce the traffic of people and vehicles to a minimum level, as well as thorough and continuous disinfection of feed transport vehicles.

Bird flu has appeared in a new area
adozona.hu
27.12.2023, 16:53 Updated: today, 08:47

The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) confirmed the presence of the highly pathogenic bird flu virus in another settlement in the county of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. The liquidation of the affected herd is in progress, the measure due to the presence of the disease affects more than 100,000 animals, Nébih reports on its website.

In the Nyírbátor settlement of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, there is a colony of 114,000 mallard ducks, where tests confirmed the appearance of the H5N1 subtype of the virus. The animal's lack of appetite and lethargy drew the attention of the animal keeper to the possibility of the disease.

The affected stocks are being liquidated. A protective zone with a radius of 3 km was designated around the affected farm, and a surveillance (observation) zone with a radius of 10 km was defined. An epidemiological investigation is underway to reveal the causes of the appearance of the disease.

This case also shows that the bird flu virus can appear in any area of the country. For this reason, extra caution and strict adherence to epidemic prevention regulations are of particular importance. Animal keepers must do everything possible to ensure that their animals do not come into direct or indirect contact with wild birds.

In areas of the country identified as high risk, it is still mandatory to keep poultry kept for commercial purposes closed. Feed and bedding material must be stored covered in all poultry farms in the country, avoiding access by animals of foreign species. In accordance with epidemic prevention regulations, all personal and vehicle movements on poultry farms must be handled with extreme caution - read on portal.nebih.gov.hu.
