Honduras Confirms First Measles Case in Nearly Three Decades
Tegucigalpa, May 21 (Prensa Latina) The Honduran Ministry of Health (Sesal) confirmed today the first case of measles since the country was declared free of the disease in 1997.

The head of the Sesal Health Surveillance Unit, Homer Mejía, reported that it is an imported case, a 40-year-old Honduran man from the northern department of Yoro, who is believed to have contracted the virus in Guatemala, where he had been for the past six months.
He tested positive in a laboratory test conducted yesterday and is currently stable and in isolation, Mejía stated.
According to the official, the patient presented symptoms such as fever, cough, conjunctivitis, joint pain, and a skin rash.
He indicated that the man entered the hospital wearing a mask, which helped to break the chain of transmission.
However, nine people who traveled with the Honduran man also remain in isolation and are asymptomatic, he explained...
