The alert threshold has been crossed, in Guadeloupe: 325 new cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed, out of the 3,600 tests carried out, over the last 7 days. The prefecture is strengthening the systems to fight the virus and a monitoring committee is scheduled for August 25.

Very sharp increase in the number of cases in one week
Valerie Denux, the director of the Regional Health Agency of Guadeloupe (ARS), was very worried this Friday afternoon at a press conference; a meeting where she was to present the figures relating to the Covid-19 epidemic for the week.

First bad news: the alert threshold has been crossed in the archipelago. This threshold is set, at the national level, at 50 proven cases of coronavirus, per 100,000 inhabitants.
Guadeloupe has gone from low vulnerability to a moderate level of vulnerability in the ranking of Public Health France.
The incidence rate is 86.23, per 100,000 inhabitants; it has almost doubled from last week.

And, indeed, with the 325 new patients diagnosed positive, between Saturday 15 and Friday 21 August, the number of people affected by the disease is now 771, since the start of the epidemic.

3,600 tests were carried out in 7 days, thanks to the significant mobilization of nursing staff, but also administrative staff, laboratory technicians and medical biologists mobilized to keep up a high rate of tests. Screening campaign, at the initiative of the prefecture and the regional health agency of Guadeloupe, which will continue over the next few days at:

Saint Claude, Monday August 24
Petit-Bourg, Monday August 24
Bouillante, Tuesday, August 25
Baillif, Tuesday August 25
Pointe-Noire, Wednesday August 26
Lamentin, Wednesday August 26 and Thursday August 27

As for the hospitalization rate, it is rather correct, compared to the contamination figures, since only six patients are treated in the hospital, including four who come from Saint-Martin.

The 20/40 year olds are the most affected, in Guadeloupe and are often asymptomatic, during tests. This is also the case with the prefect of the Region, who revealed to be positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

The latest clusters identified are linked to family and private events, or are set up in professional premises...
