Three new imported cases (passengers arriving by plane). Guadeloupe now has 174 cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR tests
The 3 new imported cases were registered during the week of June 13-19. Since Saturday 12 June, 1,209 tests have been carried out in the city and at the hospital, with a total number of 6,900 tests carried out in the territory.

Since the emergence of Covid-19, a total of 222 cases have been confirmed in our territories with 174 cases confirmed in Guadeloupe, 42 in Saint-Martin and 6 in Saint-Barth?lemy. To date, there are no longer any CHUG intensive care patients and a total of 157 people have been declared cured by infectious disease specialists.
The history of the epidemic in Guadeloupe
The first cases appeared in late February in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barth?lemy and in early March in Guadeloupe. The epidemic peaked in the weeks following general confinement (March 16) during the week of March 16-22 in Guadeloupe and the following week in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barth?lemy.
Confinement was followed by a gradual reduction in the use of care during the weeks that followed, first on an outpatient basis between March 23 and 29, then at the hospital (emergencies and hospitalizations) during the following weeks, according to the territories. Between the weeks of May 6-10, thanks to the reduction in incoming flights and limited movement of the population, the circulation of the virus was very weakened with very little biological confirmation and very few consultations
private clinics or hospitals.

A new organization for the control of the epidemic has been put in place since the lifting of containment associating many partners including analysis laboratories, general practitioners and health insurance responsible for the detection and investigation of each new case detected. The stages of detection and management of transmission chains and situations of grouped cases (cluster) are carried out by the regional health agencies (ARS) in connection with the regional cells of Public Health France using Health Insurance data. .
The situation since deconfinement
Since the deconfinement of May 11 until June 17, a total of 23 people have been tested positive (20 in Guadeloupe, 3 in Saint-Martin, 0 in Saint-Barth?lemy), almost all of which are imported cases (19 / 23) having acquired their infection in
outside our territories (mainland, Canada).
No transmission chain at risk of community dissemination or cluster has been identified in our territories.
The positivity rates are stable during the last 4 weeks (from May 11 to June 14, 2020) and reach very low values (between 1 and 2%), well below the vigilance threshold of 5% despite a screening rate significant (between 200 and 500 tests carried out for 100,000 inhabitants depending on the territory, comparable to that of the whole of France)
Incidence rates are also at low levels, well below the vigilance threshold of 10 / 100,000 inhabitants, during the last 4 weeks (from May 11 to June 14, 2020), between 2 and 3 / 100,000 inhabitants according to our territories.
The rates of consultations in town for an acute respiratory infection (including a part attributable to Covid-19) have also been at low or even zero levels for several weeks
Few or even no emergency visits for suspected Covid-19, depending on the territory, have been notified for several consecutive weeks.
Active surveillance of serious cases with the resuscitation service of the Guadeloupe teaching hospital helped identify the discharge of the last case admitted to intensive care on June 4. Surveillance data therefore confirm a low-noise circulation of the virus throughout our territories.
The risk of a new epidemic start
However, a new introduction of the virus is possible due to the increase in the frequency of thefts announced in the coming weeks associated with the continued viral circulation in mainland France (nearly 3,000 cases between June 1 and June 8) or
in other neighboring countries.
The control of a new epidemic start now proceeds mainly from the control of the future installation of secondary transmission chains from these imported cases and the occurrence of clusters at risk of dissemination in the population.
