Case of Monkeypox: update in France
As of June 3, 2022 at 2 p.m., 51 confirmed cases of Monkeypox have been reported in France: 37 in Ile-de-France, 6 in Occitanie, 4 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 2 in Normandy, 1 in Hauts-de-France and 1 in Centre-Val de Loire.
Out of 45 confirmed cases as of June 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., 43 were investigated, one refused and the last could not be reached.
All the cases investigated are men, aged between 22 and 63 years (median age: 37 years). Among the cases investigated, two are immunocompromised, one was hospitalized but is no longer so; none died.
To date, as in other European countries, these cases have occurred mainly, but not exclusively, in men who have sex with men (MSM), with no direct link to people returning from endemic areas.
Among the cases investigated, 22 traveled abroad before the onset of their symptoms, some of them to several different countries: 13 trips are thus reported to Spain, 3 to Belgium, 3 to Germany, 1 to Portugal, 1 to the United United, 1 in the Netherlands, 1 in Morocco, and 1 in India. Most of the cases investigated declare that they cannot identify the person who allegedly infected them. Finally, two of the cases investigated are secondary cases, not vaccinated, of cases confirmed in France.
The next update of this report will take place on Tuesday 7 June.
