I have been highlighting the cases that are new (to me) each day the details list goes up. So the red highlighting would include new cases posted that day, plus cases posted the previous day after 5 PM. To get an idea of new cases per week you would have to scroll back and check the old lists too.

Several FluTrackers members are currently working on a database of info on global fatalities, which allows sorting and searching so that the data can be organized and viewed in many different ways. At this time we have 290 of our current 353 fatalities in the U.S. listed on the database, and I expect the rest of the info will be up shortly. There is a chart which shows U.S. deaths organized by report date, with a red trend line showing how the overall deaths are increasing or decreasing each day, which may answer your questions on risk and increasing virulence.

I am waiting for the "all clear" from our database organizer to make the link available to the public, but as soon as I can I will post the link to the U.S. info in this thread to give everyone access to what we are doing. it ought to be an excellent resource in addition to the info posted here on the forum.

Thanks for the note AppleBlossom. And I will look for the link.

But the state/regional information is important to have. Might I suggest that the new cases for that day be highlighted in red, but that the previous cases for that week be in green (or whatever color). That would give us the recent activity in that state with a quick glance. I have been trying to do it mentally, but it is challenging to scan the dates and then mentally highlight.

Am I correct in saying that many states are now reporting only once a week? The media reports come in anytime. The highlighting for the week might allow us to get a quick idea of the deaths in that state for that week. (and thanks again for all your hard work)

I know you are using the caveat "no announced underlying conditions," but still, it seems a little misleading to even imply that percentage is anywhere close to accurate. I can see counting the cases where they give more exact info, like age and sex, & don't say anything about underlying conditions. But when it's such scant info as "unidentified person," I don't know that it should be included in the percentage.

The database includes information on H1N1 fatalities worldwide. You can view all the listings in the database by choosing "Case listing" from the column on the left. Or you can restrict the data to certain countries, to individual U.S. states, or to only deaths in women who were pregnant. The full U.S. list is organized in 3 ways: by report date, alphabetically by state, and by "underlying condition" so that you can view available data on specific health conditions involved in fatalities.

To view number of deaths, scroll down to the very bottom of whatever list you are viewing. There will be a green bar showing the number of entries. this is the total number of deaths on the current list.

You can also view charts of the U.S. data: by report date, by underlying condition, or by age (when a specific age was reported). Scroll down the left-hand column, they are listed in the G section of U.S. listings as "Graphs".

Note: If you would like to see the U.S. data organized in other ways, please make a request here in this thread, and I will create a new chart or list for you.

Wow, that is IMPRESSIVE. Even with no more than you have posted so far, it provides information that probably isn't available anywhere else in the world, certainly not in such an easy to read format, and all in one place. Congratulations and thanks for the work it took to set that up.

One suggestion--if you could make the flutrackers link a clickable link in each table, that might help people get back to where the info was first posted and/or discussed.

SPOKANE, Wash. - A woman visiting Spokane from out of state died from complications linked to H1N1 (swine flu). Spokane County Health District spokesperson, Julie Graham told KHQ that the woman who had multiple underlying health conditions was exposed to H1N1 in the Spokane area and died July 16.​

Perfect! The database is obviously a better place for keeping up with the details whereas this thread is a better place to keep track of new reports.

Massachusets deaths now total 7.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has announced two more deaths caused by the H1N1 flu. Officials say the deaths of a 62-year-old Middlesex County resident and a 53-year-old Worcester County resident were related to H1N1, but both victims had underlying health conditions. This brings the total number of deaths related to H1N1 in Massachusetts to 7.​

looks like the death reported in Alaska was an Alaska resident who died outside of the state. however I don't have a location to link her to, so I have to list her as an Alaska fatality for now.
