Finland Covid-19 cases - 8,512 cases, 337 deaths

Finland has seen no spike in coronavirus cases two weeks after schools reopened - while Norway has admitted stopping classes might have been unnecessary.

The Nordic countries have both been easing their lockdowns after successfully flattening the curve of infections, with schools among the first things to reopen.

The number of coronavirus deaths in Finland increased to 316 as two more people died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Saturday.

So far, a total of 260 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 16 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 12 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

The identities of the deceased, however, could not be known as the THL did not divulge any details about them.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has increased to 6826 as 50 more cases had been diagnosed in the 24 hours until Saturday afternoon, said the THL.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus deaths in the country increased to 322 as one more person died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the 24 hours, said the THL.

So far, a total of 265 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 17 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 12 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Till the date, a total of 266 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 17 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 12 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

So far, more than 5,800 patients have recovered from the disease.

Presently, 38 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, including six in intensive care units.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infection increased to 7112 as 4 more cases had been diagnosed in the last 24 hours until Tuesday afternoon.

So far a total of 269 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 17 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 12 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District until Monday afternoon.

11.7 17:23 Dozen more cases, five deaths in past month


Twelve new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in Finland, the national health agency THL said on Saturday. That brings the official total of lab-confirmed cases to 7,291, although the actual number is likely to be many times higher.

As of Friday, there were six patients in hospital, but none of them in intensive care. THL will update the numbers of patients in hospital and any possible deaths on Monday.

There has only been one death in the past two weeks. That occurred on July 3, bringing the total to 329. Prior to that, there were single fatalities on June 11, 14, 22 and 26, for a total of five the past month. In comparison, an average of 16 people died in traffic accidents during each of the first five months of this year.

A day before, 7,295 cases were reported. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 329 deaths have been detected in the country.
