Human infection with avian influenza A(H5) viruses
From 2003 through 23 June 2015, 842 laboratory-confirmed human cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infection have been officially reported to WHO from 16 countries. Of these cases, 447 have died. Since the last WHO Influenza update on 1 May 2015, two new laboratory-confirmed human cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infection was reported to WHO from Egypt, both from Fayoum governorate. A three-year-old female, with illness onset on 8 June was hospitalized on 10 June, and had laboratory-confirmation of infection with an avian influenza A(H5N1) virus on 16 June 2015. A two and a half-year-old male with illness onset on 13 June, was hospitalized on 16 June, and had laboratoryconfirmation of infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) on 20 June 2015. Both had exposure to poultry, were given oseltamivir, and remain under treatment.

144) Egypt - Child, 3, hospitalized in ICU but stable condition, Fayoum
145) Egypt - Female, 40, announced as a died June 24, Sohag Death
146) Egypt - FAO documented case, observation date June 13, Fayoum
