Press Release: Director of Animal Health Research Institute congratulates the Minister of Agriculture on the international accreditation of 59 facilities as free from avian influenza.

Professor Dr. Samah Eid, Director of the Animal Health Research Institute, extends her sincere congratulations and appreciation to His Excellency Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, on the occasion of the new international achievement represented by the expansion of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) in accrediting the system of facilities free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Egypt, bringing the total number of internationally accredited facilities to 59.

Insightful vision and unlimited support

Eid affirmed that this great success is the result of the unlimited support and insightful vision of His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, which aims to enhance export opportunities and support the national economy, stressing that this accreditation places the Egyptian product in a distinguished position globally.

She also congratulated Dr. Hamed Al-Aqnas, Chairman of the General Authority for Veterinary Services, and all the Authority’s employees, in appreciation of their efforts in overcoming obstacles and tightening strict veterinary control, which led to achieving this accomplishment.

Partners in success in the poultry sector

The director of the institute expressed her pride in poultry producers and workers in the sector, describing them as "partners in success" for their full commitment to applying biosecurity standards, which has made the Egyptian product a landmark in quality and safety and opened up broad prospects for the sustainability of exports.

The leading role of the Reference Laboratory (RLQP)

Dr. Samah Eid expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the researchers and staff of the Reference Laboratory for Poultry Production Control at the Institute, emphasizing their role as the first line of defense in protecting the poultry industry. She noted that the laboratory's supervisory and technical role includes:

Strict periodic monitoring: to ensure that facilities remain free of pathogens.

Field and practical examination: Conducting periodic field visits and taking periodic samples for examination using the latest diagnostic technologies.

Accuracy and speed: Ensuring accurate results and rapid response, which enhances the reliability of the Egyptian veterinary system globally.

Figures and statistics (2017 - 2025)

The statement revealed the extent of the efforts made, as the total number of samples that were examined in the laboratory to monitor the health status of facilities free from bird flu since 2017 until the end of June 2025 amounted to about 282,505 samples, which were examined in full within the corridors of the reference laboratory for veterinary control of poultry production.

The End

Professor Dr. Samah Eid concluded her statement by emphasizing that Egypt proves to the world daily that it possesses a strong and competitive production and trade system, which supports the path of sustainable development and achieves Egyptian food security.
