The Cabinet's Media Center issued a statement through its social media platforms, clarifying the truth about what was circulated regarding the emergence of bird flu in some Egyptian farms, and what was raised about its impact on increasing poultry prices.
The media center explained that, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, it was reported that no cases of bird flu had been detected in any of the Egyptian farms.
The ministry stressed the need for its active surveillance committees to intensify their campaigns in all governorates of the republic, whether on bird farms, bird markets, or migratory bird routes, as a precautionary measure to detect any epidemic diseases that may affect birds, while conducting comprehensive periodic examinations of birds, and taking samples for analysis at the Animal Health Research Laboratory, to ensure their safety and freedom from any diseases.
The ministry indicated that the slight increase in poultry prices during the current period is due to the succession of social and religious seasons, during which the demand for poultry and its products increases, stressing that poultry prices during this period are 20% lower than prices during the same period last year.
The statement added that Egypt’s exports of poultry and its products to foreign markets are witnessing a remarkable increase, which confirms that there are no disease problems detected within the country.
In a related context, the ministry explained that the number of isolated poultry facilities is increasing, in accordance with the regulations of the World Organisation for Animal Health, which reflects the stability of the health situation in Egyptian farms, noting that the rates of production of poultry and table eggs have increased by 14% compared to the previous year.
