(40% ). Infected with influenza composting

The Egyptian Government is now considering an operational plan to take advantage of the dead birds due to disease, "avian influenza" through the use of technology "Alkambost", which depend on heat treatment of the dead birds, for temperatures up to more than (60 degrees Celsius) in order to eliminate the "virus" of the hand, and the transformation of poultry production, organic fertilizers, contribute to increased agricultural productivity by up to (40%) compared to conventional chemical fertilizers, according to confirmed by the experts participating in the International Conference held by the Agricultural Research Center said Tuesday the presence of experts in agriculture and veterinary medicine and a number of experts in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Participants in the entire conference, which is titled "Lessons learned from the American experience in the disposal of dead birds for the production of fertilizers," the need to draw from the experience of America to contain an outbreak of "avian flu".

And Dr. "Ayman Farid Obouhdid" head of the Center for Agricultural Research in his speech on behalf of "Amin Abaza," the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the "Bird flu" caused the slaughter of approximately (40 million) birds during the first weeks of the emergence of the disease ( 2006), which had greatly affected the local poultry industry, and affected the income (and a half million people) Egyptian rely on poultry for their livelihood.

He added that Egypt is ranked third globally in terms of number of human cases of the disease after Indonesia and Vietnam, indicating that the number of cases of women suspected of being infected with the disease, up to (66%) due to direct contact with infected birds.

He noted, "Abou-Hadid," the likelihood that the disease mutates to pass between humans and become a pandemic along the lines of "swine flu" is still alive despite the absence of cases of infection from one individual to another, as also pointed out that the use of technology "Alkambost" is one of the best ways to get rid of the dead poultry, and help control pathogens such as viruses and bacteria, in addition to the low cost of this technology compared to other conventional methods for the production of fertilizers.

He also noted that the use of dead birds using this method would improve the properties of the soil, and increase crop productivity by up to (40%).

Re: Egypt considers composting bird's for fertilizer

Back a couple of years ago in the Karo Regency of Northern Sumatra the index case of a now famous cluster allegedly was exposed to H5N1 from plant fertilizer that was contaminated by bird poop. There were other theories as well about how the index case was exposed. There may have been other examples also in Southeast Asia about people getting H5N1 from fertilizers.

Maybe some one should tell the Egyptians.
