Poultry prices saw a gradual and sudden increase on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following a surge in demand coinciding with the start of the holidays and special occasions.

The "Sada Elbalad" website provides its readers with daily updates, including on poultry and egg prices, which have become a matter of great interest to citizens after experiencing fluctuations in recent times.

The prices of mother poultry have also risen to about 62 pounds per kilo and reach the consumer at a price of 77 pounds.

Chicken thighs now cost between 80 and 90 pounds.
Chicken wings range from 60 to 70 pounds per kilo.

A pair of pigeons costs 170 pounds.
Egg prices

The wholesale price of a carton of white eggs has also stabilized at 110 pounds, selling to consumers for approximately 125 pounds.
The wholesale price of a carton of baladi (local) eggs starts at 135 pounds, selling to consumers for around 150 pounds.

The Cabinet's Media Center denied the recent reports about rising poultry prices due to a shortage in the markets, stressing that these reports are completely false.
The Media Center explained, in a statement published through its official social media platforms, that in contact with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the Ministry confirmed the availability of poultry in large quantities in various markets, noting that the rates of chick production from mothers during the current year exceed those of last year.
The ministry confirmed that the local market is witnessing an abundance of grandparents, parents and broiler chicks, in addition to the availability of sufficient quantities of table eggs, as well as the existence of a safe strategic stock of frozen poultry inside slaughterhouse refrigerators, which contributes to the stability of the market and the absence of any shortage in supply.

Citizens are suffering from high prices... The head of the
agricultural syndicate calls on the state to import poultry:
The fair price per kilo should not exceed 75 pounds.

Mohamed Shaaban
Published: Saturday, February 7, 2026 - 9:52 PM | Last updated: Saturday, February 7, 2026 - 9:52 PM

Dr. Sayed Khalifa, head of the Agricultural Syndicate, denied the validity of rumors about Egypt importing dates from Israel, explaining that Egypt currently produces about 1.9 million tons annually, and has 16 million productive palm trees, including the largest farm with 2 million palm trees, in addition to 4 million new palm trees in the New Valley.
...
Regarding the crisis of rising poultry prices, he explained that price increases before the month of Ramadan have become an annual custom, noting that in previous years there was a justification in the form of a shortage of feed and the dollar crisis, but this year there is no justification, especially since feed, vaccines and serums are available and their prices are stable.

He added that the cost of producing a kilo of poultry is about 70 pounds, so selling it for 75 pounds is acceptable, but the price reaching more than 100 pounds raises questions, saying: “For whose benefit? The citizen is suffering, and the feed and production inputs have not increased?”

He stressed the need for state intervention, calling for the importation of shipments of poultry to regulate the market and ensure the citizen's right to obtain the commodity at a reasonable price.
