April 8, 2020 11:12 AM National COE registers 4 450 covid-19 infections and 242 confirmed deaths related to covid-19
Drafting Elcomercio.com

The National Emergency Operations Committee (COE) registers a total of 4,450 confirmed infections by covid-19 in Ecuador this Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Mar?a Paula Romo, Minister of the Interior, indicated that 3 741 people are stable and complying with home isolation, 178 are stable hospitalized and 146 hospitalized with reserved prognosis of the total of 4 450 infected people. There are 242 deceased people of this group of people and 140 have been discharged from hospital.

The Government Minister indicated that there are 240 people who died probably with covid-19.

Romo added that citizens are going to see the curve with a figure of the day when the people's symptoms began. The capacity to test in the country has tripled, of the dammed results, 15 526 samples have been taken, he assured.

A single curve is made with the contagion report, because there is still a lag in the data, he said.

In one more week, the two isolation periods of 14 days each will be completed. In Ecuador next week, the isolation measures will be held for 28 days. Romo assured that the isolation will be extended with rigorous measures in many of the provinces, in all at first, but after evaluating city by city and province by province, to know in which activities the measures can be relaxed, for this It will create a traffic light to know which activities can or cannot be resumed. I mean

In Quito and Pichincha, the isolation is most likely to spread because it has gradually become the second province with the highest number of cases.

The Government has an artificial tool that allows, through the GPS of the phones, to know if the people who tested positive for covid-19 mobilized. It has been documented to send to the Prosecutor's Office and follow a judicial process for disobeying the order and putting the lives of Ecuadorians at risk. The penalty is up to three years in prison.

The collection of fines, for not complying with the traffic ban, will be through payments to basic services, Romo said.

Minister Mar?a Paula Romo said that if within 24 hours no member of the family has expressed the will to take care of the burial or cremation of a person who died by covid 19, at that time the State takes over.

Ba?os de Agua Santa is not without security. The National Police is guaranteeing security. The minister assured that the uniformed are responding to emergency calls and patrolling. The National Police Training School is not being used, he said.

People who have moved to other countries have to cover their return expenses. Humanitarian flights are maintained in a slow way, according to the calendar, where travelers are considered to be abandoned in isolation, in order to receive others.

Ecuador registered 315 deaths and 7,257 coronavirus infections
It is the Latin American country with the highest number of deaths from Covid-19 in proportion to its population as a result of poor crisis management.
April 11, 2020

Ecuador, one of the Latin American countries most affected by the coronavirus, registered this Saturday 315 deaths, with 7,257 positive cases of infection and 411 patients with hospital discharge after having passed the quarantine, reported the Minister of Government (Interior), Mar?a Paula Blunt.

Saturday's data confirms it again as the Latin American country with the highest number of deaths from Covid-19 in proportion to its population, revealing poor management of the drama from the start.

The official added that there are other 338 cases considered as "probable deceased of COVID-19", which until now has not been able to specify the cause of the deaths.

In addition, Romo indicated that 6,944 people, of the 22,649 diagnostic samples taken since March 29, have been discarded for the disease.

The minister specified that of the positive cases for the coronavirus, 6,123 are stable and quarantined in their homes, 186 in hospitals in stable conditions and 184 in intensive care units with a reserved prognosis.

The Emergency Operations Committee (COE), which integrates the authorities in charge of directing the actions to face the health emergency due to the coronavirus, reported that the province of Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, is the most affected by the pandemic in the country with 5,290 cases.

Guayas is followed by the province of Pichincha (whose capital is Quito) with 606 positive cases, Los R?os (227), Manab? (204), Azuay (154) and El Oro (149), among which more than one hundred patients.

Minister Romo recalled that this weekend a total restriction will be applied to the movement of vehicles, although transportation related to the health, processing and provision of food and medicine, and security sectors is excepted.

Ecuador reported its first positive case of coronavirus on February 29, on March 11 declared a "health emergency" throughout the country and five days later the Government ordered a State of Exception, with measures that limit vehicle traffic, the commercial and labor activity.

However, while a presumably strict protocol was applied, hundreds of people from all over the world entered Guayaquil. None of the travelers was controlled by the health and safety authorities.

In addition, Guayaquil is a dynamic port to which Ecuadorians of all conditions migrated, it is the engine of the private economy and reflects the complexities and inequities of Ecuador. In the heart of the city is one of the largest informal shopping centers in South America, selling all kinds of Chinese products, in warehouses run by citizens of that country: it was undoubtedly the center of expansion of the epidemic.

All in all, the country is currently undergoing massive and compulsory home isolation, as well as a fifteen-hour curfew per day, with the aim of preventing the spread of the coronavirus spread.

Coronavirus in Ecuador: the corpses were collected in Guayaquil but now they cannot be buried

Guayas, located in the southwest of Ecuador, is the province with the highest number of cases of infections (5,395), and its capital, Guayaquil, is the most affected area (4,060).

To Guayas, the provinces of Pichincha -whose capital is Quito- (634), Los R?os (239), Manab? (215), Azuay (182), El Oro (160) and Ca?ar (100) follow, while the rest of the provinces have less than a hundred cases each.

In the Galapagos archipelago, located about a thousand kilometers from the Ecuadorian continental coasts and declared a Natural World Heritage Site by Unesco, there are records of eleven people infected by COVID-19, one of them deceased.

Of the total number of infected persons nationwide, 597 have been discharged from hospital, while 6,256 are stable in home isolation, and 321 are hospitalized, of which 121 have a reserved prognosis.

According to official data, 56% of those affected are men and the most affected age group is 20 to 49 years old (4,430 cases), followed by 50 to 64 years old (1,891), over 65 ( 966), from 15 to 19 (102), while between 10 to 14 as well as from 5 to 9 years, there are 51 cases in each segment.

Another 25 positives occur among minors ages 1 to 4, and thirteen cases in babies up to 11 months old, according to the report.

The Government Minister, Mar?a Paula Romo, explained in a virtual press conference that to date 24,553 samples have been taken from the COVID-19 and 7,297 cases have been discarded.

On February 29, the first case of coronavirus infection was reported in Ecuador, a country that has been in a state of emergency since March 16, with measures that limit vehicle traffic, commercial and labor activity, and in some places , like Quito, with suspension of the use of public space.

Seven thousand 603 cases and 369 deaths due to Covid-19 are reported in Ecuador

Quito, Apr 14 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Government of Ecuador confirmed today that in the country there are 7,603 positive cases of Covid-19 and 369 deaths from this disease, present in the 24 provinces of this Andean country.

In a virtual press conference, the head clarified that 25,347 samples have been taken to date, of which, in addition to the infected diagnosed, 7,495 people were discarded.

Of the total infected, he clarified, 6,212 remain stable in home isolation, 197 are in the same condition in the hospital regime and 129 have a reserved prognosis.

The statistics offered by the minister also indicated that 696 patients were discharged from hospital and there are 436 probable deaths from the new strain of coronavirus.

Romo took the opportunity to limit some issues related to the incidence of the pandemic throughout the national territory, such as the sanctions applied for violating the curfew measure established from 14:00 to 05:00 (local time) and for speculating with prices of basic necessities.

In this sense, the secretary of state specified that only in Guayaquil, the city most affected by the disease, until the weekend, a thousand and three controls were carried out and there were 50 arrests.

On the other hand, he pointed out that since the implementation of the Traffic Light System, the day before, the entire country remains red, and any change, for a specific town or province, will be decided starting next week.

Likewise, he recognized that there are around 10,000 dammed tests (pending results), which he indicated as a concern of the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE), since that reading constitutes one of the factors to know the behavior of the pandemic and make future decisions.

However, he added that other indicators are also taken into account, such as the reduction of calls to the 911 and 171 hotlines and the number of people who go to hospitals.

In this sense, he said that once two initial periods of isolation, of 14 days each, have expired, results are beginning to be seen in the mitigation of infections, with a slower growth curve and fewer calls to the lines established to request medical attention.

"We need a little more patience and a little more discipline (?) Let's do our part, collaborate with the measures and we will see results, because isolation gives results," he stressed.

Coronavirus cases in Ecuador: April 17, 11:00 am: 8,450 infected, 421 confirmed deaths
April 17, 2020 - 11h24
Quito -

The Government Minister, Mar?a Paula Romo, reported on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ecuador and regarding the decisions of the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE-N) on mobility restrictions.

With a cutoff at 11h00, this Friday, April 17, the number of infected persons amounts to 8450 and the number of deaths to 421, although the number of possible deaths from COVID-19 is 675.

Of the total infected, there are 6732 stable with home isolation, 234 stable but hospitalized, 141 hospitalized with a reserved prognosis, 8075 discarded. So far, the total number of samples taken is 29,596.

"The figures that the COE gives are not all the figures of reality, it is a part of reality: takings and tests carried out and of that, how many people are positive and how many are discarded," Romo insisted.

COBAS

Tomorrow they expect COBAS to reach its maximum capacity. So far 752 tests were being processed during the day and 320 at night. Its maximum capacity is 1400 tests per day.

Regarding the dam, 500 samples a day were received on average and 350 samples were made, and this was because the National Institute of Public Health and Research (Inspi) had 18 confirmed cases and many were infected and this reduced the processing capacity.

Damned results

Because of this, the Ministry of Health and Inspi will send the tests to a third laboratory to process them. Next week they hope to have all the results.

Traffic light

Next week the whole country remains in red, but they authorize the operation of companies that market office supplies and stationery, only for home orders

Guayas

It has not been considered isolating the province of Guayas or any other, only interprovincial controls have been strengthened. (I)

https://www.ruv.is/frett/2020/04/18/...vegna-covid-19
A new government summary in Ecuador strongly indicates that many more people have died from COVID-19 in that country than official figures indicate. This can be determined by mortality rates in the most populous province of the country, Guayas province, where the burden is greatest, especially in the regional capital of Guayaquil, the most populous city in the country.

In the last six weeks, since the beginning of March, nearly 11,000 people have died in Guayas and Guayaqil, according to information from the Interior Ministry, released yesterday. In the normal season, about 3,000 people die in this area over a six-week period, so it is clear that the mortality rate is almost four times higher now than in the average year. So far, only 421 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 in a conclusive manner, and there is reason to suspect that an additional 675 have died for the same reason.
Ecuador's Minister of Internal Affairs Maria Paula Romo says in a conversation with the British Guardian that the correct figure is likely to be much higher. "This large number of deaths is far beyond what can be considered normal," the minister says.

Hospitals, hospitals and cemeteries have no escape

The Guardian report says Ecuador is among the Central and South American countries that have suffered the worst in the crown virus epidemic to date. Neither the health agencies nor Guyaqil City Hospital cope with the stress, and grieving families have been forced to choose between having their deceased loved ones stay with them for days, or carry their bodies out into the street and leave them there.
Last week, city authorities took the council to distribute cardboard coffins in the millennium as a special service center was set up for people to call and request that earthly remains of relatives be retrieved.
Romo says the authorities would like to have all the statistics and death statistics on the table to get a better overall picture of the situation. It could possibly help them understand "why funeral services and cemeteries did not really meet demand in Guayaquil and Guyas in recent days," the minister said.

Coronavirus in Ecuador: the death toll rose to 456 and there are more than 9,000 infected
In addition, according to official figures, there are 731 deceased, suspected of having been infected with COVID-19 but who were not tested. In Guayaquil, the country's red zone, the health and morgues system collapsed
April 18, 2020

According to the authorities, in the province of Guayas - where around 2,000 people a month usually die from different causes - there is a gap of about 5,700 deaths. "In the figures that we have managed to cross with work, with the Ministry of Government and with the Civil Registry, we have approximately 6,703 deaths reported in these 15 days of April in the province of Guayas," the chief of the Joint Task (FTC), Jorge Wated.

In it, he indicated that the number of deaths in hospitals is "decreasing", which is a "very encouraging measure", but that on the contrary, the number of deaths reported in other registries appears to be much higher than normal.

Taking into account that the "usual monthly average (in Guayas) is approximately 2,000 people", the gap at this point would be about 5,700 deaths above the usual, which Wated attributed to "different causes: Covid, alleged Covid and natural deaths ”.

The province of Guayas concentrates 68.2 percent of those infected (6,150), followed by Pichincha, whose capital is Quito, which, with 794 positives, represents 8.8 percent. Guayaquil, the capital of Guayas, has been the most hit city in the province, with 4,611 cases, while the capital of Ecuador is the most affected in Pichincha with 734 coronavirus positives.

Those two provinces are followed in number of infections by those of Los R?os (304), Manab? (274), El Oro (247), Azuay (217), Santa Elena (135), Ca?ar (125), Chimborazo (108) , Loja (105), while the rest of the provinces have less than a hundred cases each.

56 percent of infections have occurred in men and the most affected age group has been those between 20 and 49 years old (5,334), followed by 50 to 64 years old (2,247) and over 65 years old (1,172), according to official figures. The infections among young people between 15 and 19 years totaled 107, while the positive ones between 10 and 14 years old reached 59, two more than in the group of 5 to 9 years old.

According to figures from the Ministry of Public Health, there are 46 cases registered in total in the age group from babies to four years.

A total of 1,008 people have been discharged from hospital, while 7,204 are "stable" in home isolation and 354 are hospitalized, of which 134 have a reserved prognosis. So far 30,922 samples have been taken for coronaviruses and 8,491 cases have been ruled out.

Ecuador has been in a state of emergency since March 16, with measures that limit vehicle traffic, commercial and labor activity, and in some places, such as Quito, with the suspension of the use of public space.

The Ecuadorian Government began implementing a "regional traffic light" on the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 last Monday, in order to gradually reactivate the economy and consolidate a system for tracking those infected by geolocation.

The “traffic lights” started “in red” for all the districts, which is why the restriction measures adopted several days ago are maintained, as well as the 15-hour curfew daily, which begins at 14:00.

Repatriation flights for Ecuadorians and from the mainland to the Galapagos

Protocols for repatriation flights of Ecuadorians abroad and also for Ecuadorians going from the mainland to the Galapagos are adjusted, there is still no resolution for today, surely it will be given tomorrow, Thursday. Responding with the health system, the ability to test, the ability to isolate if there are infected people, are the considerations that are taken into account.

Romo said the government is not setting flight costs, they are flights that are managed directly by the airlines; the Ministry of Public Works and Transport coordinates to try to avoid abuses, but it must be understood that air traffic, at this time, is at its lowest level worldwide.

The same for hotels and lodging centers, the government only coordinates, people have to ensure that they will have where to stay and food in those days because they must return to compulsory isolation. In this stage, the entrance of 2,500 people has been guaranteed, who have stayed in hotels, hostels and even in state infrastructure. The minister said that supervising 2,500 homes would not be possible, which is why it is required that they concentrate in certain places, so that they are controlled, due to the problems that were experienced at the beginning. The government is not in the capacity or logistics or financial capacity to take charge of these issues...

Government Report: 22,719 infected with Covid-19 nationwide
Drafting Friday, 24 April 2020 - 11:25

According to the last government report, Ecuador registered, this Friday, April 24, 2020, 22,719 infected with Covid-19 and 23,138 cases discarded, out of a total of 56,513 samples made.

So far, there are 576 deaths from coronavirus and 1,060 probable deaths from COVID-19 nationwide, who died without testing.

The Government Minister, Mar?a Paula Romo, referred to the increase in coronavirus cases, which doubled in Ecuador yesterday. "The Health Minister gave us good news yesterday, that the dammed tests have been processed," he said.

According to Romo, the increase in yesterday's figures does not mean a rebound. They are the results of the dammed tests. "The more tests we do, the more cases we will have."

For his part, the deputy minister of Health, Xavier Sol?rzano, said that "this result of new cases is the fruit of the process of having incorporated a series of laboratories" to process the tests.

Yesterday, the number of coronavirus cases doubled to 22,160 after the results of thousands of tests that were repressed due to lack of capacity to process them, reported Health Minister Juan Carlos Zevallos.

"The total, to make the number clear, is 22,160 confirmed cases," the official said. Shortly before, the Government had reported 11,183 cases, since the presence of the virus was declared in the country, on February 29.

With the updated number of infections, Ecuador, with 17.5 million inhabitants, is the second Latin American country with more cases of covid-19 after Brazil, with almost 45,800 cases, although the South American giant has 210 million inhabitants.

"There is no new outbreak, it is simply that the evidence that was repressed, that was retained without prosecution, has been analyzed," the minister emphasized.

Zevallos indicated that with the help of private laboratories and public institutions but outside the Ministry of Health, Ecuador managed to process around 23,800 diagnostic tests that were waiting to be analyzed.

Some 23,400 tests had previously been analyzed.

Ecuador rules out "new outbreak" after doubling Covid-19 cases

The government of Ecuador clarified today that there has been no "new outbreak" of coronavirus in the country, against which it had been warned in some media and social networks, after the count of positive cases of Covid-19 doubled.

Of the almost 11,000 cases reported last Wednesday, the official figure grew last night to 22,719 positives, while the death toll went from 537 to 576.

The Health Minister, Juan Carlos Zevallos, made the clarification after specifying that the doubling of the number of infections was due to the statistical incorporation of the laboratory results of thousands of diagnostic tests that were subject to verification at the National Research Institute in Public Health (INSPI).

"From this analysis it is evident that there is no new outbreak," Zevallos said, specifying that what happened was a "misinterpretation" of the data that came from the processed tests.

The minister explained that the date of taking the patient's sample should be taken into account and not the date of the informative report, since this could produce a "statistical bias", the EFE news agency reported.

The addition of thousands of lagged test results has been achieved thanks to the "recently installed robotic platform at INSPI and the support of several private laboratories," added Zevallos.

The head of Public Health added that the number of lagged test results will be incorporated into the official statistics.

Zevallos noted that 23,138 cases discarded and 1,366 with hospital discharge have also been registered today in the official report.

Ecuador has been in a state of emergency since March 16, with measures that limit vehicle traffic, commercial and labor activity, and in some places, such as Quito, with suspension of the use of public space.

The new case count has already been incorporated into the online registry made by Johns Hopkins University, in the US, but not because of the figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), which still maintains 11,183 cases and 560 deaths on its page. 16 less than those reported by the government of Len?n Moreno.

“I have spoken with several mayors of the country and they have expressed their concerns. I think it is vital that local authorities help us make the best decisions for us. Each one knows closely the reality of their canton, they also know the behavior of their citizens and, without a doubt, they are the best suited to promote and control discipline and compliance with regulations; those norms that must be followed in a new stage, ”said President Len?n Moreno, on the network last night.
Moreno said that he ordered the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE), that this week virtually all mayors of the country will be called to explain the current situation in each of the territories, and the indicators that locate a city in red , yellow, or green.
