Coronavirus in Ecuador LIVE | Latest News | Quito [EFE]. Ecuador surpassed this Saturday the 5,000 deaths confirmed by COVID-19, to which another 3,305 deaths are "probable" due to the disease, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
According to the statistical report, in the last 24 hours there were 48 deaths from coronavirus, bringing the figure to 5,031.
The number of infected this Saturday increased by 1,408 compared to the previous day, bringing the total number of positives with rapid tests and PCR to 67,209, according to the official report.
Since the first case was reported on February 29, a total of 181,564 tests have been taken, between PCR and rapid tests in Ecuador, inhabited by more than 17 million people.
According to these samples, 90,782 cases have been ruled out, while 5,900 patients recovered from the disease and another 8,693 were discharged from hospital.
Of the 24 provinces of Ecuador, the coastal of Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, continues to lead the largest number of cases, 16,453, which represents 28.24% nationwide, followed by Pichincha, with the city of Quito. As head, which gathers 10,415, 17.88% of infections, 539 more than on Friday.

The rest of the Ecuadorian provinces, including the Gal?pagos territorial circumscription (100 cases), register less than a thousand confirmed, although the province of Santa Elena reaches 986 confirmed infections and that of Orellana 918.
Since last month, Ecuador has been in a process of de-escalation of the restrictions in its epidemiological strategy to face the COVID-19 pandemic.
This means moving from mass isolation to physical distancing with the lifting of limitations on human mobility, which entered into force with the state of emergency on March 16, and which has been extended on several occasions by the president, Len?n Moreno, the Last on June 15 for an additional 60 days.
The capital, Quito, started on June 3 a new stage of de-escalation and went from red to yellow at the epidemiological traffic light, which has resulted in the partial resumption of public transport and increased commercial and labor activity on the streets of the city, inhabited by about three million people.
