The Ministry of Public Health reported this Wednesday that some 1,130 new cases of coronavirus (covid-19) were registered on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infected in the country to 82,224.

According to the issuance of special bulletin number 146, the active cases of the disease are 33,758 for a positivity of 33.05 percent.

In terms of deaths, 25 people died on Tuesday, adding 1,371 in the Dominican Republic from covid-19.

The fatality rate is 1.6 percent.

Likewise, some 27,000 infected in home isolation and another 6,758 are in hospital isolation.

In addition, the report indicates that 300 people are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

304,501 samples have been processed to date, where only yesterday 4,367 were taken.

Meanwhile, there are 83,134 infected, after another 910 cases were reported yesterday.

Of those infected, 303 are in intensive care units (ICU), 41.58% of them in clinics and hospitals in Greater Santo Domingo, 27.72% in Santiago and 15.51% in Duarte.

A total of 47,946 of those affected have already recovered, added a bulletin from the Ministry of Health, which specified that active cases total 33,795.

The fatality rate stands at 1.68% and the positivity in the last four weeks is 32.84%.

Deaths from coronavirus continue to increase in the Dominican Republic, where 16 people died in the last day, when 1,354 new positive cases were also registered.

SANTO DOMINGO, Aug 16 (Xinhua) - The number of cases and deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 reached 86,309 and 1,453 in the Dominican Republic, respectively, Dominican health authorities reported on Monday.

The Ministry of Public Health presented the data in a bulletin, indicating an increase of 764 in cases and 15 in deaths compared to the previous official record.

Of the people with a positive diagnosis, 6,885 are in hospital isolation and 25,096 in home isolation.

The report also shows that of the people hospitalized, 295 are cared for in intensive care units. The median age of all cases is 38 years.

Statistics also indicate that 69.86 percent of the cases are concentrated in 12 municipalities.

Of those infected, 295 are in intensive care units (ICU), 43.73% of them in clinics and hospitals in Greater Santo Domingo, 26.78% in Santiago and 25.08% in Duarte.

Of those infected, according to the information, 54,108 have already been recovered, while active cases total 31,148.

The fatality rate stands at 1.71% and the positivity in the last four weeks is 31.33%.

Since the arrival of the disease in the country, 324,463 PCR diagnostic tests have been performed, 2,407 of them yesterday.

In his inauguration speech yesterday, President Luis Abinader promised to increase the Health budget to 66,000 million pesos in the first four months of his Government to address the situation caused by the coronavirus.

More than 1,500 people have died in the Dominican Republic due to Covid-19, with twelve new deaths in the last hours and a fatality rate of 1.70 percent.

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic accumulates 89,010 cases of COVID-19 and 1,505 deaths, according to the bulletin issued this Thursday by the Ministry of Public Health.

In the last 24 hours, according to the information, 883 new cases and 4 deaths were registered.

Of those infected, 287 are admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

Meanwhile, 7,079 of those infected are in hospital isolation and 22,692 in home isolation.

According to the information, the general hospital occupancy is 68% and that of the ICU 62%

So far, 335,478 PCR tests have been processed, of which 4,318 in the last day.

The bulletin indicates that 57,534 people have recovered from the disease, bringing active cases to 29,771.

The Dominican Republic reached a total of 91,608 cases of COVID-19 this Monday, adding 447 new infections in the last 24 hours, revealed the epidemiological bulletin # 158 issued by Public Health.

In addition, six new deaths were reported, bringing to 1,573 the total number of deaths since the arrival of the disease.

The report indicated that the cumulative fatality rate is 1.72 percent.

Of the total accumulated cases (91,608), 31.05 percent correspond to active 28,447 patients fighting the disease.

While 61,558 infected have exceeded the disease.

In the last four weeks, the positivity in the processed samples reached 30.40 percent.

According to the epidemiological bulletin, to date 350,033 PCR samples have been processed, 2,770 in the last 24 hours. The discarded cases total 258,425.

The report pointed out that there are 272 health workers positive for the coronavirus, of which 63.97 percent (174) correspond to the female sex.

Of the number of positives, 7,313 are in hospital isolation, while 21,164 are in home isolation.

242 patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 43.39 percent in centers of Greater Santo Domingo, 26.86 percent in Santiago and 14.46 percent in Duarte.

Of the total confirmed cases, 51.25 percent (46,946) correspond to males, and the median age is 38 years, with an interquartile range between 28 and 52 years.

In addition, 68.04 percent (62,326) of the cases are concentrated in 12 municipalities.

By place of residence, 71.52 percent (1,125) of the deceased were registered in 12 municipalities. The mean age of the dead is 68 years, interquartile range from 54 to 77 years. 66.05 percent (1,039) are men.

The comorbidities of the deceased correspond to arterial hypertension, 33.31 percent, and diabetes, 21.68 percent.

EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic reached the mark of 100,131 coronavirus infections this Tuesday, with a total of 1,889 deaths, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

In the last 24 hours, 25 new deaths and 233 additional COVID-19 infections were reported, a figure lower than in recent days, which is partly explained by a decrease in the number of new PCR tests processed (2,493).

The bulletin indicates that the occupancy rate for hospital beds for COVID-19 stands at 27%; that of intensive care beds (ICU), in 44%; and that of fans, in 33%.

At the end of July, the hospital system came under pressure from a sharp increase in patient admissions, but since then the authorities have worked to expand the number of beds available for COVID-19 patients.

The mortality rate per million inhabitants stands at 180.79, a figure that exceeds the world average (113.63), but which is much lower than the average for the American continent (469.14).

The country has been in a state of emergency since July 20 and a day later the curfew has been in force throughout the country, which varies its schedule in different districts depending on the level of incidence of the virus.

Likewise, the mandatory use of a mask in public places is maintained and the Government urges the population to maintain measures of physical distancing.

Errata: Bulletin No. 175 of the Ministry of Public Health reported today two different numbers of deaths, with accumulated that validate both figures.

The authorities reported that there are 388 health professionals within the groups of positive risks to the coronavirus, 234 pregnant women and 9, 356 people under 20 years of age.
