My understanding is that it is small--which is why the Australian company that patented it is suing GSK. Additionally, it should be noted that Relenza is an inhalable drug and is only available to the lung tissue itself. Any infection that is in the blood or other organs would be virtually inaccessible by the drug at least at therapeutic levels, anyway.

I read a while ago that they were working to make an injectable or tablet variant, has anyone any further information on this as Relenza appeared to be less resistance prone - than Tamiflu - during in vitro trials. The ion channel blockers are significantly more prone to resistance but I personally would like to see them stockpiled with Tamiflu for use in combination therapy as I think this will help to slow down the emergence of a Tamiflu resistant strain.

Here?s a bit of analysis on my part. I am a firm believer of ?watch what they do?..not what they say?.

Today is 10/20. There seems to be two trouble spots. South Sulawesi and North Sumatra. Let?s go back 10 days to 10/10. We have had 4 patients in South Sulawesi. Of these 4, 2 have been under 6 months old. In North Sumatra, we have had 5 patients in the last 10 days. Out of the 5 patients, 3 of them have been 3 years old and under. So between South Sulawesi and North Sumatra, we have had 5 children under the age of 3 years old in the past 10 days.

Now, here are some clips from todays newspapers (posted at the wiki):

South Sulawesi is a very conservative, very religiously active, isolated area.
The Moslem scholars, whoever they may be, know very little about bird flu. They are religious scholars. They're not doctors or nurses or public health nurses.

Sounds like they are working with the Government in spreading the word into 13 mosques. They wouldn't be doing that unless it was of utmost importance.

Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population estimated at 182,570,000. I believe there are 10,000s of mosques.
