"Smidgeon" is more than "a tick" and less than "a little bit", of course. My mom literally did cook that way, and a whole lot better than I do!

Like idiot, moron and imbecile- they used to have a clinical meaning corresponding to an actual IQ level. My great-great-great uncle was described as an idiot in the 1860 census, but only "insane" in 1870. I think he was just a smidgeon crazy.

Note that this effect in no way depends on the virus being "airborne" but has to do with longer survival on surfaces (fomites) due to the conditions under normal air conditioning being more favorable to survival in fomites.

This almost certainly applies as well to Ebola. Given that the areas where Ebola is raging unchecked are very hot and air conditioning very uncommon, it is highly possible (likely IMHO )that spread of Ebola thru fomites may be much more of a problem in the USA and Europe than it is in Africa.

Ebola not being "airborne" is no assurance whatsoever that this problem will not apply to it, as well as to MERS.
