At the close of this Sunday, April 26, the Cuban health authorities confirmed 20 more cases of coronavirus on the island, for a total of 1,389 infected.

3 thousand 546 patients are admitted to hospitals for clinical epidemiological surveillance. Another 5 thousand 556 people are watched in their homes, from the Primary Health Care.

For COVID-19, 1823 samples were studied, resulting in 20 positive samples.

The 20 new confirmed cases were Cuban. Of these, 19 (95%) were contacts of confirmed cases and 1 (5%) did not specify the source of infection.

Of the 20 diagnosed cases, 9 (45%) were female and 11 (55%) male. The most affected age groups were: under 40 with 10 cases (50.0%), followed by the 40 to 60 year group with 9 cases (45%). 65% (13) of the positive cases were asymptomatic.

HAVANA, THE MOST AFFECTED

Havana stands out again as the province most affected in the daily count, with the highest number of new infections (26 of the 48 patients).

The capital - home to around 1.2 of the country's 11.3 million inhabitants - accumulates 603 of the total number of positives and is the second territory with the highest incidence of the virus by number of residents, after the Isle of Youth.

Four of the five municipalities with the most positives in the country are from Havana. Among them, Diez de Octubre and Centro Habana are among the most populous in the city.

Havana.- Cuba registered 19 new COVID-19 infections this Monday, a downward figure that it had not registered since last April 3 and that leaves a total of 1,668 cases in the country, while the number of deaths reached 69 after two new deaths confirmed.

The two deaths, which occurred on the eve, correspond to a 79-year-old woman from Havana and an 82-year-old man from the Matanzas province who already suffered from previous pathologies, the director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), Francisco Dur?n.

The low number of new cases disclosed this Monday is in line with the downward trend registered in the last week except last Saturday, when the country registered the daily record of infections to date (74), most related to a focus of spread in a center for homeless people in Havana.

EPICENTER IN HAVANA

Most of the new infections (16) correspond to residents of Havana, which is the region most affected by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus with more than a third of the total.

49 new discharges were announced on Monday, so the total number of recovered from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (876) already exceeds half of the confirmed cases.

Francisco Dur?n, delegate of the Minsap, first pointed out that the new cases are located in the following provinces of the country:

Havana: 19 cases (9 from Playa; 3 in Centro Habana; 2 from Cotorro and 2 in Habana del Este. Also, there are 1 in San Miguel, 1 in La Lisa and 1 in Marianao)
Matanzas: 1 case (from Limonar)
Ciego de ?vila: 1 case (from Ciego de ?vila)

In addition, the doctor reported that among the 21 of 1804 cases of coronavirus in Cuba there is 1 child; while there are 3 older adults. He also pointed out that 1148 people remain hospitalized to date and 1277 received medical discharge.
